Hy finally done spent 200 euro - 200usd perfect sound perfect burble no drone no problem at all!!! Everybody with standard exhaust must do this mod.
The sound is deep and in normal is perfect for the every day use in sport is wonderfoul!!!!

Advice do this no regret at all!
I will post a video but it is not comparable with real sound

In the 718 models you don t need a valve system!

My model has original cat that cut the sound a lot!

I dont think the Law would like that mod /forum/images/718forum/smilies/tango_face_wink.png
Just opening the sleeve 3-4mm produces a brutal sound, this mod must be crazy loud!
Yeah I'm not sure opening an exhaust leak is such a great idea, and this is only on PSE'd cars right?! I'm so tempted with PSE but just can't justify handing over £2k for the work.

I have the non-PSE on my S and honestly I really like the sound in 'Sport' and fine the non-sport setting perfect for that everyday drive when you are just happy to hear the radio in the traffic.

I recently had a 718GTS with PSE for a fortnight (600miles) and I'll be honest - it made me 100% decide it was not worth the £1,800 to retrofit the PSE on my S. It didn't have the same smoothness of the S in standard mode and TBH it was hardly night-and-day in Sport mode, either.

If I was really going to drop thick end of £2k, I would have to consider an aftermarket system such as Fabspeed. I think paying any more than that would be mental.

Just MHO of course! ;)

The "leak" you get is between the mufflers so i would not see it as a bad thing.
I have not get my head around how the PSE works but the muffler with the valve is smaler.
And with no sound aktor you can easily hear that PSE is a waste of money.....

Are there any issues with boost spikes with these mods? I've read that the reduced back pressure can lead to boost spikes although perhaps that is with older turbo cars?
You will experience boost spiking with a catless downpipe. Not as intense as cars with older technology, but you will experience it. We recommend pairing a tune with that modification. Catted downpipes do not have this problem.

I keep wondering how to react to this:

This is an intentional modification that completely un-muffles the exhaust, guaranteeing that the car will be annoyingly loud.,
It also eliminates the catalytic convertors, guaranteeing that it will emit more measurable exhaust pollution.

If this is intended for use off-road in a racetrack-only car, then that's fine.

But if this modification is to be carried out on a car that is to be driven on public roads, then you'll be annoying a lot of people for no good purpose.
Plus, in a lot are areas (like mine), it's illegal.

Occasionally, I'll notice pickup trucks or "tuner" cars driving passed my house with a loud, bothersome exhaust system. And I always consider the drivers of those vehicles to be thoughtless jackasses.
To me, this falls into the same category.

Please don't assume what you like is what we all like. Or maybe that's lost in translation (sic)?

Sir, we have anti-noise laws that require both mufflers and the valve system. Not sure what kind of laws you have in your home country (wherever that is ... license plate is Italian, so at least we're not talking about the depths of Albania or Slovakia), but in the U.S. and much of Europe, what you've done is illegal for street use and, in many jurisdictions, subjects your car to immediate impounding.

If you'd like to take that risk, good for you. If you'd like to share what you've done to assume that risk, that's great; most of like to see it.
But do NOT assume that most of us want to do what you've done. Fact is, most of us can't without risking the loss of our car to law enforcement.

Just supplying some Moderator-flavored brevity for the benefit of all.

I don't think many people will do the full cat delete unless maybe it is a track car or you want massive sound. It is really an economic way of getting a loud exhaust! Though as Johan said opening the sleeve 3-4 mm will increase sound. I remember my old 6 cylinder E30 with fully balanced engine had a leaky exhaust gasket or manifold and it sounded awesome revving out to 7000RPM. Never bothered to get it fixed. :D

Though IMO the high flow cat that Soul offers is a good option if you are going Stage 2 and want to stay legal.

As Mike confirms there is the risk of boost spikes with full cat delete/straight pipe so a tune is recommended.

If it's in Italy, as we suppose, the laws are simple:

You can't do anything to cars.

Everything that it's not OEM, it's illegal.

That's what law says.. but not necessary what people does..

Well that's a major bummer...
