Could the 718 be a reincarnate of the old 944's from the late 80's/early 90's? I also wonder if the 718 could be FR like the 944 was, haven't seen confirmation of that anywhere yet...

Looks like a great car. That's basically what I'd say about most Porsches mind you. I don't think that the 718 will have the same rear style as the 944. I don't think that the back windshield will stretch all the way to the rear of the car. The 718 will have more of a separate trunk that isn't completely covered by the back window.

It would be a great move is that is actually the case and even pulling design elements from it to the 718 would be great making the 718 not only a successor the the original but also the 944 and maybe a bit more.

Never liked the look of the 944. Never driven or rode in one either, but it didn't have that Porsche style like the 928 during that era. For those who have driven or own one, no disrespect. My opinion of the car is simply on looks. Style cues from the 912 would fit the 718 better IMO.

I know a lot of people that hate how they look. It's boxy design and shorter rear hatch does make it a bit on the ugly side, especially when compared to other porsches.

Not sure what it was like in the US but over in Europe it was a very popular model. In fact it was the most successful car line in Porsche's history until the Boxster came out!

was never a fan of these, they're cool and all but i'd never own one.
But these days if you want a cheap used porsche, these can be had for some good prices.

I am surprised that you don't like the look of the 944. I think that it looks like a more practical and accessible Porsche. One that you can use for everyday driving as well as racing.

Seems to be some confusion, when I say reincarnate of the 944 I don't mean Porsche will use the styling of the 944 and graft it onto a Boxster, I meant the ideological position it used to hold in the Porsche line-up. Until Macan it was also the last Porsche with a 4 pot...

It's just his opinion, just like how I don't like it, not everyone will and that's fine.
This is one of those porsche's that I find a number of folks don't like as much when it comes to design.

proportions stay similar but there are differences.
