Hey everyone,

I was wondering what track tire pressure you run on the track. I'm on Hankook RS4s on Titan 7 wheels 255 and 285s. Last track day I chewed up the edges pretty badly, and will get some more camber into my setup early in July, but for now it's stock camber and toe.

6 hours and 36 views after your post with no reply , I’ll chime in. It seems your looking for a little guidance for track days. On average tire pressure will increase 4 - 6 lbs when hot. Even more as the day and track temps increase with afternoon heat. My Cayman with Goodyear F1 performs best at 36 lbs hot,any more then start to get greasy.
I start the run at door sticker pressure ( 29 ). At the end of first session I’m 35-36. As the day goes on I’ll bleed some pressure along the way to maintain my sweet spot. It’s not uncommon for me to have a TPM light on at the end of day when things cool off and I’m ready for the drive home.

I’m at 6000 miles now and my front tires are about gone with outside cornering wear. This is with 1.2 neg camber
I’ll be adjusting to 2 neg with the next set.

You can learn a lot about set up from your fellow track mates with a little conversation. Most off us are very approachable. Stay safe out there

I have a lot of experience with RS4s on several different platforms.
I'm currently running the same setup as you.

RS4s are happiest in the 33 - 34 hot range; 35 is OK but as you get to 36 they can get a little greasy.
I usually start out at 28 cold in the shop before loading on the trailer for normal forecast conditions.
You will have to start adjusting hot temps after each session.

With that said, you also need to look at your alignment settings.
I'm guessing that you are wearing outside edges and possibly don't have enough camber.

This is exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks.

I put my pressure 4 lb below recommended cold pressure due to the expected increase. In between sessions, I'll let it cool, but if it hasn't cooled enough by the time to get lined up, I'll let out a little more.

Circling back the 33-34 worked really well, after the tires got scrubbed in a bit.

Fair warning to everyone that these tires are reallllly slick if you haven’t scrubbed some rubber off of them, and going out at like 28 lb on a warm day requires a lot of caution for the first like 20 minutes of using them.

I’ve got experience on various tires on various vehicles. Usually seems most are happiest in the 32-35 range. I usually shoot for 34. I usually start first session at 28-29 depending how warm it is. I’ve got ps4s on my cgts currently and they seen best at 33-34.

after coming off track, I will adjust them immediately while hot to the pressure I’m aiming for if pressures are too high.

Anyone have experience and recommendations for RE-71Rs?
Almost finished a set after 5 days. I run them 30psi HOT, monitored by a tire pyrometer.
On some tracks, I even had to put my left rear to 28 psi HOT. But generally, 30-32 is a good range for the RE-71R. I also have the camber for even wear, so that may play a role for the pressures I'm running.

Thanks @Yamino ! This past weekend was my first autocross with the RE-71Rs. I won the Novice class on Saturday running 30 PSI hot, but I was in the morning session. On Sunday I was in the afternoon session and was struggling just to get to Saturday's times. Finally for my last run I dropped them down to 26 PSI hot and I dropped from a 37.7 to a 37.0, so they probably liked the lower pressures. I'm currently stuck with -1.5° negative camber—the max I can get out of the OEM suspension—and the temps were in the low 90's for the afternoon, vs. the 70's for the morning session.

I only managed third place on Sunday because two Tesla 3s entered—they may be heavy, but the instant torque is a huge advantage, even over our turbos. Oh well, at least I'm still tied for first Novice overall. Fun, fun!
