Shouldn't have said anything. Mine worked for the trip out to the store but no CarPlay on the way back. Uplugged and/or reset everything I could think of, but nope. I bet that it will work the next time I try. They are coming...
How's your's working now? Thinking of ordering for my 2022 GTS. The website only lists Porsche 718 MY 2017-2021 as compatible, but I don't think there is any difference between 2021 and 2022?Shouldn't have said anything. As predicted, it worked perfectly next time. Based on what I have observed, the issues are pretty much entirely with the Porsche end of things. The issues don't seem to be restricted to wireless, because when I lose it I lose the wired CarPlay too. Mine is the Ottocast, not the Carlin, but for all I know they are the same under the skin. How's your's working now? Thinking of ordering for my 2022 GTS. Also, even my wired CarPlay seems to have hiccups at times. Drove yesterday and it started up fine, but after I disconnected the phone to activate GasBuddy and plugged back in, I couldn't get CarPlay to reconnect.
And not to leave us luddites using Android devices befuddled and envious, there are several that will do the same for us. AAWireless, Motorola MA1 and Carsifi. 718 headunits that don't support AA can be hacked to add the feature. Search the forum for semaservis1108. He, and others, do it remote via a USB flash.
The "T-Box Mini", another option, is made by the CarLinkIt company referred to by the OP. It is, essentially, a wireless Android Auto hardware box that connects to our CarPlay capable PCM. It also functions as a full Android tablet with the PCM functioning as its screen. Twice the price of the dongles but bypasses the need to hack the headunit
