What does everyone do when dining out or attending an event that has valet parking?
Personally I hate it and do not want valet kids driving my expensive car that they don't really care about.

I self park and walk. My wife has on one occasion kidded me about it saying, "I don't want to say we parked a fair distance, but I was thinking of hailing a cab...". To bel clear, she does this with all her cars over the years, as well (Audi A4, S4, BMW E46M3, Mini Cooper S, 5 A3s....). It is not only silly behavior, it is the door dings and bumper scrapes...………….

The main risk associated with valet parking here in Silicon Valley is that the prestige 'leave-in-front' spots are already filled with McLarens and Ferraris.

Look, if you can't take your car to a nice upscale event with valet-only parking that everyone else is using, maybe that's a sign you're too invested (emotionally and/or financially) in said car....

Besides, our wives deserve that elegant feeling of driving up to the venue entrance and having their door opened by a waiting attendant -- a little 'red-carpet moment'.

Holy ****!
I see that you live in South Florida....if you live in Miami like me, I definitely prefer Uber....that way I can have some drinks and not worry about valet drivers.....it's Miami, need I say more. My friend had a valet ding his Range Rover at a fancy restaurant on Brickell, and the valet company claims it is not responsible so he had to pay out of pocket for the repair.

This. It's the same in Dallas -- and frequently there is no place to self-park in certain areas because of density, poor urban planning (this, especially!), or other reasons. That said, the only time I valet is when I either have to or it's advisable to because of the event or the neighborhood.

Is there a valet key or valet mode? I haven't found anything in the manual so presume not.

@ZuffenHouseRules My wife drives her own expensive car and 'she' doesn't trust the valet either. She gets the red carpet treatment everyday everywhere.
Agree. My wife stays in top shape by walking everywhere. Steps instead of escalators. When she wears a leather dress with her Louboutins she gets the red carpet treatment from every male she encounters.

I don't take my 718 to a place that requires valet parking. I wouldn't trust them to know how to properly drive a manual transmission, and the car is really fast and very easy to be going 15-20 mph before you know what happens.
