What have you used to remove water spots from glass? The windows on our older cars have sun-baked spots from years of sitting outside.

Assuming a good glass cleaner isn't working, try a clay bar

EDIT: and if that still doesn't work, it's likely etched into the glass, and permanent. Replacing the windshield would get rid of them though

If the clay doesn’t work,you can (machine)polish them out with a compound.

I used it on my bimmer windshield years ago to remove some light scratches from the previous owner caused by the wiper blades. It removes water stains/etching very well !!!

I've used white vinegar in the past. You might try that before you purchase something since you probably have vinegar already.

Thanks everyone. I tried vinegar and regular glass cleaner but these were not effective. I will try the solution, then the clay, and then the machine polishing and see if that works for the windows on these 13 and 26 year old vehicles.

Griots makes a glass polish and glass polishing pads. They also have synthetic clays that are awesome. You could buy their brand new DA polisher and this whole setup for a couple hundred dollars and change. Worst case it will help a LOT and you can use it for the next ten+ years on other things, and it’s half the price of new glass. That’s my opinion.

Be careful using a machine to polish off the spots. In some cases it can be effective but I have seen cars that had that treatment and then at night there’s a huge spider web effect making it difficult to see.
