The Waze settings, accessed via my phone, show "Auto" for the Day/Night map display, and had heretofore worked. Lately, stuck in "Night".

Any experience with this? Any solution without an equal complement of unintended consequences?

Many thanks.

Didn't work - well, I think it worked one time, after the re-install AND a reset on the phone's Customize Carplay settings, and when I exited Waze and went back in, it was dark again. I've also found news apps in Carplay that I didn't ask for, and the order of the apps has changed, so that all of my three navigation apps are no longer in the first 8 apps that appear. I've gone into Carplay settings on my phone and was able to delete some, but not all, of the new apps, and while the menu tantalized me with the suggestion that I could "organize" the apps in the Carplay home screen, I could not see how to do that. I know I've read some instructions about organizing the Carplay screen. During the course of this work, I also managed to discover that the screen was set to "Always Dark" in the Carplay settings, instead of "Auto". Playing with that, I managed to get the screens in both Maps and Google Maps to be dark, where they were previously light.

Android? If so, Waze day/night colors follow your car's headlight settings, not the "auto" setting in the app. Once your headlights turn on, Waze should automatically switch to night mode (dark theme). And switch to day mode (light theme) when headlights are off. Is this not happening?

No; it's an iphone. And my headlights are typically switched to Auto, and go off when I drive in daylight. I rarely drive at night, so I don't know what happens then.

I have the same issue here...
I didn’t find a solution yet. I don’t understand if it is after an iOS update to 13.5 or a Waze update... I cannot rollback the iOS...

I am not aware of any fix. After post #5, I went through various settings for Carplay on the PCM, and through my three Navigation apps (also Maps and Google Maps). The best I could come up with was setting Carplay back to "Always Dark", and then changing the Waze Map Display Mode from Auto to Day in the app on my phone.

During the day, everything is the way I want it (nav screens are bright, Carplay screen is dark). When I drive at night and want to use Waze (which will be very rare for me), I would need to switch the Display mode manually.

If I hear of, or experience, anything better, I'll post here.
