Hmmmmmmmm, not sure. Something that seems kind of solid hitting something that sounds thin and metallic.

Tell us more. Which year, make, and model? Did it just start? Did you recently have it serviced? Does it need service? Did you have any work done on the car? Modifications made to it? Anything loose in the rear trunk? Do you hear it when going fast? Does the rhythm of the noise speed up or slow down depending on your speed?

A lot more information would help.

It's a 5-month-old Cayman GTS 4.0.

That noise appeared after it was at the dealer for a suspension caution light on the dash. Service said it was only a loose sensor, so they only tightened it to fix the problem.

Even on a flat surface, it sounds randomly while going slow; I mean, it sounds even with very little suspension movement.

Want to avoid the "It is normal in a Porsche" that some dealers are used to saying for minor noises

Definitely doesn't sound normal to me. Probably not Jimmy Hoffa trying to escape from your trunk, but you'll never know without a look.
