Do I need to go explore the passenger footwell?Oh! So I guess that makes it three gifts on total:
1- the Smoking Package;
2- the Luggage Net in Passenger Footwell; and
3- this lovely pen.![]()
Nice. I forgot to mention that the salesman swapped the black covers on my Keyfobs for red and put a nice looking metal Porsche license plate frame in back. Plus they sent me a pair of the clear marker lights.Forgot to mention along with the pen, other things some of you may get.
Such as Christophorus magazine (from Porsche). I think it comes to all new Porsche buyers (I also get the PCA magazine plus my local chapter does their own glossy mag....so I have lots of reading material)
I did the PEC delivery so I got the PEC rear license plate frame, a certificate, a Porsche flash drive full of photos they took of me and my wife.....plus some other small items.
I also got two real nice leather key fobs (one red and one black) with the Porsche crest......but I'm not sure if that's part of the PEC deal or they give those to everyone?
And they mailed me a real nice, horizontal format Porsche museum book a few weeks after we got the car.
Is it worth joining PCA? I am not a social person, but would like to get technical knowledge and do some tracking.Yep...got that too.
I get e-mails plus other regular mail too.
And since I joined the PCA about a month ago, I feel like I get something related to my car at least once a week.
I would say yes.Is it worth joining PCA? I am not a social person, but would like to get technical knowledge and do some tracking.
I would say yes.
You may already be familiar with this, but for the benefit of anyone who does not: Many local PCA clubs run "DE days" ("Driver Ed"....these are track days). My PCA rents Lime Rock, NJMP, Summit Point, Watkins Glen, Pocono and others for DE days. You run in different groups from "newbie" to "experienced". All newer drivers get an instructor. Keep in mind this is not wheel-to-wheel; passing is typically reserved only for straightaways and only with a "point by" of the lead driver.
DRIVER ED
Many PCA clubs also run autocrosses including mine. Great fun. Basically racing around cones in a parking lot one at a time. Much lower speeds than DE days but also a great way to learn.
AUTOCROSS
And our PCA does tech sessions. They just did one on the 718.
Actually, I already do 7 or 8 weekends a year wheel-to-wheel racing with another club (I'm a board member of VRG.....a northeast USA historic racing club). So I may do some of my local PCA DE days but I mostly joined my local PCA for the social and rally events.
You don't need a cage or roll bar for DE days.I live in WA state. How good is it here? There is a NorthWest club in PCA right?
What is the difference between joining this club to learn race driving vs directly approaching an instructor at a racing school?
Mine is a Boxster. Should I install roll over cage?
Does the younger generation join the club?
I became a member when I got my Cayman a little over a year ago. Since joining, I have enjoyed the monthly magazine (coffee table quality) from PCA and another magazine from my local chapter, one Sebring race gathering hosted by local Porsche dealer, and a PCA Headquarters (located in MD) BBQ event. There are frequent emails announcing track, auto-x and other events (not just local). Is it worth joining PCA? I am not a social person, but would like to get technical knowledge and do some tracking.
I have been a member of a Corvette Club for over 30 years. I have been a PCA member for the past year and have found PCA to be a large step above the Corvette Club. You can be as social as you want to be or just attend DE’s and learn a lot. We attend Porsche and Pancakes the first Saturday of each month and as cheeky as that might sound it is fun looking at everyone’s cars and talking Porsche’s. Both the PCA magazine and the local chapter magazine have great articles and information. Give it a try, I think you will like it. From Corvette Clubs to the PCA, I believe the other part of owning a great car is meeting other people that have the same great car and gaining new friends with obviously great taste. Is it worth joining PCA? I am not a social person, but would like to get technical knowledge and do some tracking.
