Hi all

Recently purchased a 2018 Boxster GTS in racing yellow. All great so far!

Though I’ve occasionally noticed a strange ticking noise coming from the front drivers side. (RHD)

It sounds like something is moving and is then stopping?? It’s very intermittent and some drives doesn’t happen at all.

see below

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

It sounds like a window wiper motor or, what I have recently had, the window motor when you open / close the door but the window itself is stuck (mine was frozen shut for reference). What did your OPC say?

BTW nice yellow car you have. Will make @Uz718 want to compare notes with you ;)

Firstly. XCELLENT colour buddy welcome to the klan.

No Idea what the noise is but great colour mate. Feel free to send me a DM and will add you to the UK 718 WhatsApp group... Trip to the OPC to check!

Thanks guys!

Definitely a big fan of the racing yellow. :)(y)

Sadly the dealer wasn’t able to replicate the noise!! It’s very intermittent and seems to only appear after shorter drives.

I’ve since taken some further recordings where it’s more noticeable. The source is definitely the front of the car (sadly not the windows).

I’m moving next month so will try again with my new local dealership. Frustrating!!

To me, it sounds like a pressure relief valve or something of that nature. Kind of a hydraulic build up and release. You do have radiators up front and I don't know if there is some sort of electronic coolant shutoff valve up there.

Does it happen when your ventilation/climate control is turned off?
To me it sounds like damaged wipermotors or a pump that is building up pressure (like @JazzCatGab said)

Small update on the issue...

I’ve spoken with Porsche Portsmouth who have booked the car in early Jan for diagnostics.

They suspect it’s an issue with the climate control actuator sticking. And may require a dash out job.

I have also narrowed down the issue which seems to confirm this suspicion. When the sound is audible if you disable climate control, the sound immediately stops. If you then enable climate control immediately afterwards it continues.

Will post back an update!
