Thought it might be fun to hear what others parted with (or will part with), when acquiring their new Porsche, whether in their possession or patiently waiting on an order or production date. Perhaps an earlier generation upgrade, a muscle car, a Corvette, some cows and chickens...whatever. In addition to being a long time Porsche fan and passionate regarding the mid engined Cayman series, I've also been a Corvette fan for years. A different class sports car IMO. Sticks like glue but is still a handful. Never considered it a true drivers car...more of an "exotic" looking muscle car. Quality, for the price though has never been and I do not feel will ever be, on par with Porsche or the like, specifically the Cayman but any Porsche for that matter. GM continues to produce high priced, mega horsepower versions that they delude themselves into thinking can go head to head with the worlds best. Perhaps on the track but not on overall value, quality and craftsmanship. There is so much more to a sports car than raw power. With that said, I'll always have a soft spot for Corvettes, but parted with my Corvette to make room for my 2019 GT4. How bout you?

I didn't really need to sell anything to buy my Cayman.

But I did sell my Miata and my airplane (Aeronca-65TL) just before I bought the Porsche.
Selling the Miata opened up some space and the airplane was becoming a distraction and maintenance headache.

....I definitely had to free up some garage space so didn't have a choice but I don't regret selling the Vette and am eagerly waiting for its replacement!

Trade in

Traded my '15 MINI S. Only regret is that the tire noise on my '17CS (20" wheels) is irritating on freeways with worn surfaces. Hopefully, at 20,000 miles when I change to the new Michelen tire, there will be a little relief. Don't get me wrong, I like this car enough to live with the noise.

...always liked the mini. Curious how the tire noise was in that though?

The Michelins are surprisingly noisy also on worn surfaces.

The 18" Goodyear F1s are pretty noisy on roads with more texture (such as roads made using recycled millings).

It's not bad here in NJ, but on our drive back from Atlanta-PEC, we hit some states that seemed to have more textured roads, increasing the interior noise levels of the car.

MINI tire noise

The runflats are a problem. But Bridgestone makes a tire that is quiet and compliant and still handles very well. In my humble opinion on the 718, I think the 20" wheels are just a fashion statement. 18" wheels and tires would be my favorite. Also, from an esthetic point of view, the brakes would look better filling up an 18" wheel. The large diameter wheels make the brakes look small.

....I hear you on that. If they offered 18 inch Carrera wheels as an option that's what I'd choose. Unfortunately , I won't have a choice. The tires on the Vette that I sold looked like truck tires...LOL...compared to the newer low profile ones and it was one of the few sports cars hitting 1.0G in it's day...meaning it handled quite well without low profile tires!

I sold my Subaru, added some investments, and am thinking of selling my Moto Guzzi (after a year of not riding due to the fun of the Boxster).

BTW--The evidence for handling on low profile tyres is not good. Top Gear (the old one) tested the lower profile tyres as slower on the track and riding harder on the road and of course, F1 cars don't use them.

I don't think noisier would surprise me at all. On the 18s the Boxster can be quieter than the Subaru or (I think) the Macan I had as a loaner. (The Macan was so loose and sloppy that the fun roads were actually work:( so I spent little time noticing sound--but it didn't feel quiet.)
