I know there are many opinions in the Porsche community about the target oil temperature one should reach before leaning on the throttle but I would like to know what our 718 community does and why? I have posted a thread below* from Rennlist that is a little dated but makes several good points about recommended target temperature to insure proper engine lubrication for your review.
I typically, wait until the oil temperature reaches 194 degrees before leaning on the car............

Some say that the oil should run a bit above the BP of water to drive out moisture. I'm not sure if this is true.
That is accurate, and I rarely drive my car less than 50 miles on any outing which assures engine temperature is reached and the oil temperature is adequately elevated to burn off residual water. Seems to be working since my Blackstone report @2360 miles (see attached) showed 0% water.

While water does boil at 212 F at atmospheric, it does have temperature dependent vapor pressure below that. So water loss from engine oils is not an on/off affair. Loss rate will be higher at higher temperature, but water will still be driven off, less quickly, below 212. Moreover, depending on the composition and non-ideal interactions of water with other components, water (or any component, for that matter) can resist leaving the mixture above its boiling point.
