I leased a 2018 Boxster S new in August 2018. Scheduled maintenance is included in the lease. The car had about 400 miles on the odometer when I took delivery. I believe it had been used as a dealer demonstrator from Jan 2018 until August. Recently, a dashboard message stated “change oil now”. When I took it to the dealer, they said that Porsche will not pay for the oil change—or for the two year maintenance which also is due—until August 2020, two years from the beginning of my lease. They changed the oil at no cost as a courtesy but said to come back in August for the remaining work. it seems strange that the lease date, which is an arbitrary time having nothing to do with the mileage or service needs of the car, would be controlling in this situation. Is this correct information? Would appreciate any thoughts.

Generally the lease time also signifies the beginning of the active use period and so it generally coincides very well but in your case it had been used for 400 miles and an unspecified time prior to that and so the inservice date and actual date it was first used are off. That being said the biggest issue is the oil change that they agreed to do for you and so the actual 2 year service will be a few months behind but with the oil just having been changed should not be a major issue
