Hi everyone, I recently had installed a full frontal Suntek film on my 718 BS and today noticed a whistling sound that starts around 75MPH and gets louder from there. It does not matter if the windows are down or up, or whether the top is down or up, any combination of those two. A forum search on Planet 9 and rennlist for older cars or different models hinted that the film covering the mirror may be causing this. Apart from removing the film, some solutions/diagnostics include applying small rubber pads to disrupt the airflow at the top of the mirror housing or taping the edges of the PPF to see if the noise is improved. I haven't yet had a chance to do either of these as I have been stuck at work for a few days but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this phenomenon. Thanks for any input!

Not sure because I never had that issue but maybe installing anti buffeting diffuser would resolve your issue as well? Certainly would look better then sticking on rubber pads.

I agree, and as a matter of fact, already have those installed hahah! The buffeting is certainly better with those, but this whistling noise after the PPF is high pitched and cuts through the breeze like noise of the wind that the foilers provide.

On my 986 I had that issue from time to time, it was the front hood that was a couple of mm to high.
The whistling sound it created sounded as it was from the dash.

So take a look around doors, hoods to see that the body work is even.
Also you can fill all the spaces with something to see if it goes away, that is what I did when I narrowed it down to the front hood.

Good Luck!

I had it happen because of ppf. We removed it from the mirrors and it's better - even though this was hard for me to believe. I still feel like there is a lot of noise from the window/door seal area, but it is improved after removing the film. At some point I want to get back to the ppf installer and see if he has any other ideas.
