One thing that has really wound me up over the last few months is that there is no production tracker.

VW and Audi have one which is pretty good and gives a notification when the vehicle moves onto the next stage. BMW dont have one however their online chat will tell you at what stage its at and even which vessel its on.

I think for a premium brand it's pretty poor. I really don't want to keep nagging my dealer each time I'm after an update.

I know that Porsche have just release their 'Track your dream' app but its not available in the UK yet.

Very frustrating.

Porsche knows where your car is during the production phase. Don't know if it's telemetry, but simple tags, scanning etc. it's a small effort to make it available for the end customer.
Feel free to believe that. You have no idea what it would take to make that available. They've done it with the 992, we'll see what happens next.

I think it adds to the anticipation when not knowing exactly when your car will be completed. I sort of enjoyed not knowing and being surprised when the SA told me it was done and waiting to be shipped. And then the unknown of where the ship was for the most part added to it. Christmas-like experience! Mystic of the brand maybe?

On the VW vehicle tracking app it tells you exactly what stage its at in build and transport. It even tells you when its approaching the port of entry.

This was brilliant when I ordered my VW last year its just a shame that Porsche dont offer the same. The track my dream is only on offer for 992 orders and you have to be sent a link by the OPC for it to work.

so this has changed now & is available for Boxster - I'll post to review how it's working.
