This is for track and around town. I have seen D Group (advanced) track drivers with 255/40/19 front and 285/40/19 rear. I have not seen any wider than 245 front and 275 rear for 20" rims. Anyone else have input on this?
Also, any thoughts on additional negative camber on my Cayman S without PASM . Toe in? Adjust the shocks. Anything to stop the everyday driver, understeer, that is engineered into the setup of my stock 718 S?
I have bad corner wear on my Pilot Sport 4S tires. I just had to replace the fronts with only two days at Laguna Seca and two days at Sonoma. No, I am not the smoothest driver on the planet but I would guess I am in the middle of B group drivers in that respect. Essentially, I am an average intermediate HPDE driver.
I contacted Michelin about my 4S tire wear and they said "4S tires are not recommended for track use." TireRack doesn't recommend them for track use either. Michelin rep said, “Extreme corner wear is a problem with these tires when used for autocross or other high performance driving, including track days."
I talked to a few guys at Sonoma this weekend who were running 4S tires and they all kind of copped to the same dirty little secret; that they wear out extremely fast.
