A couple Spyder roof questions

I just took delivery of my Spyder yesterday, and in spite of snow still on the ground I had to get her out of the garage and play with her a little. No driving in the salt, just figuring out stuff. I found the buttons for the roof release very difficult to operate. I had to push with all my thumb strength all over the general area of the button, many times, to get it to release. I know that being (relatively) new is part of it, but is there anything I can do to make the buttons easier to locate and operate? Would spraying some silicone on the button moving parts help?

Also, I saw a video showing that the top release and lock operation can be done from the key fob. I was able to get the fob to open the roof latch and trunk from outside, but it would not latch the roof after I put it back up. I pressed the "lock" button and held for a long time and nothing happened. I feel sure that I'm doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

Man, it's first world agony to have the car and not be able to drive it. And no relief from the cold anywhere in the Virginia forecast for the next 10 days.

congrats on the Spyder, love mine. Once you get used to the roof and those buttons, you’ll be fine. No need to push down very hard to feel around where they are and push gently. The key fob only helps when you are putting the roof down not back up. Hope that helps. Toss us a picture of your ride.
Thanks Bobby! Well, I'm hoping they do loosen up, and I'll figure out the buttons I'm sure. But I'm pretty sure the fob is suppose to close the roof latch too. Or at least it does in this video:

Just to check - you have released the roof first? I'm sure you have as the tension would probably stop it opening entirely.

Push the whole "catch" in, and hold pressure on it, while you push the button. This will release more tension on the prong/finger and make it come out easier. I have occasionally put a little silicone lubricant on mine - using a small paint brush, not just covering the whole area in loads of silicone mess.
Very useful tip! Thanks much, I'll try that!

I kinda like the impromptu moment at a stop sign, or slow speed, when I can hit the switch and open up. Or a speeedy retreat from the rain. Manual convertible tops don't appeal to me.
I understand that and I too had to hesitate a little when considering a Spyder. But, having owned a 914, a Lotus Elise, and a Caterham 620S, I get that a fiddly roof is sometimes a price I have to pay to own a special car. And I love the lines of the Spyder with the roof up, lines that I don't think would be possible with an automatic roof.
