Best Exhaust for the 718 Platform? - Fabspeed Motorsport

Fabspeed is proud to announce our complete line-up for all variations of the 718. We have been able to produce incredible sound and power gains. Truly transforming our shop GT4 into the beast it was always meant to be.

The Fabspeed Valvetronic X-Pipe Exhaust System for the 718 4.0L cars wakes up the sleepy Porsche PSE exhaust and gives them a truly exotic sports car sound all while retaining the functionality of PSE (Porsche Sport Exhaust). Our design process started with 3D scanning the entire exhaust system using our CREAFORM 700 Handscan so that we could make a complete Solidworks 3D model of the exhaust. We then designed the exhaust and fixtures using that model so that the exhaust fit perfectly to OEM standards. After multiple revisions for sound and dyno testing we settled on using our CAD flow engineered investment cast X-Pipe and 2.5" 63.5 mm tubing for the most power and exotic sports car sound. The CAD flow modeled X-pipe is an exclusive Fabspeed part that gives a smooth high pitched exotic sound and flows much better than a X-Pipe handmade from U bends cut and welded together. The exhaust valves we use are made by Helical Limited in the United Kingdom. These ISO 9001 certified valves are the same ones Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche use on their GT cars. The flanges are thick 304 stainless steel that we CAD designed to perfectly match the OEM flanges and reuse the factory metal gaskets.

Modular 200CEL CAT Headers (25+WHP)

Many have complained about the lack of sound with the new 718 4.0 Liter cars, these high flowing headers completely solve that issue. Equipped with our 200 cell cats, you will get a louder exhaust note with a much more raw sound. Higher frequency tones are more defined, and deceleration burbles are more robust and transparent. With the cat bypass pipes installed, you’re in store for a sound much more akin to a 911 CUP car than a Porsche street car. The volume isn’t overbearing, but the sound is very aggressive and race bred. It totally changes the character of the car. With the stock muffler in place, there is no drone what-so-ever, even with our Over Axle GPF Delete Pipes also installed.

Ditch the factory gas particulate filters to increase power, save weight and add a throatier more aggressive tone. Our design process started with 3D scanning the entire exhaust system using our CREAFORM 700 Handscan so that we could make a complete Solidworks 3D model of the exhaust. We then designed the exhaust and fixtures using that model so that the exhaust fit perfectly to OEM standards. After multiple revisions for sound and dyno testing we settled on using a one piece mandrel bent over axle pipe that goes straight into the free flowing part of the OEM PSE exhaust and a secondary pipe TIG welded to the main section to make a Y configuration to utilize the quiet side of the PSE exhaust when the valves are closed.

You are correct. Unfortunately we cannot create a Valvetronic X-Pipe for the Cayman. The stock setup makes it impossible.
However, Our Sport CATs and Supercup System will give you the same aggressive tone as the GT4 system while also giving you significant power gains.

Our modular design features a quick release V-band connector that allows the owner to easily swap between our German made HJS 200 cell cats and a cat bypass “straight pipes” for track use. Rennkraft, translated from German is “race power”. These unique headers offer true street and racetrack functionality in an innovative precision engineered package.

POWER:

After extensive dyno development we found that mid length headers made the most power across the entire power band. With no tune, compared to a stock car we gained 31 whp and 19 ft/lbs of TQ at 7400 RPM with Sport Cats and 33 whp and 24 ft/lbs of TQ at 7200 RPM with Cat Bypass Pipes installed. That’s a gain of 33 HP and 36 HP, respectively, at the crank! Peak horsepower also increased from our baseline of 383 whp to 405 whp with our HJS Sport Cats and 409 whp with Cat Bypass Pipes. These Over Axle GPF Delete Pipes will bring out a stronger throatier tone from your 4.0l flat six. This is a mild but noticeable increase in overall volume over stock.

We did a back-to-back dyno test of our modular RENNKRAFT headers for the 718 4.0L cars. For those that don't know, these headers allow you to easily swap between running catalytic converters and running no cats for track use. As you can see in the video, you can easily swap them under the car. This was with an otherwise totally stock exhaust system, no tune, and no other mods. We saw excellent gains across the board. Max power gains with our HJS high flow Sport Cats were +30.8 WHP and +18.8 ft/lbs of TQ at 7400 RPM. With Cat-Bypass we saw +33.1 WHP and 24.2 ft/lbs of TQ at 7200 RPM. There's also large gains down low, particularly in the dip from 2000-3000 RPM. Sports cats were up 14.7 ft/lbs of TQ, and cat bypass was up 24.1 ft/lbs of TQ.
