I've been through that coding thread and thought that was only for launch devices. Maybe I am confusing myself, are you talking software or using a different device? I was hoping someone could help me figure out a solution for sending a key position signal. I have tried the tech support from the flasher and haven't had much luck yet.
While most people use a launch or thinkdiag the coding should work on any x431 that has ecu coding capabilities. It will also work with a piwis but you will have to find the corresponding codes in German. Are you using a piwis? What is a Cardaq Plus 3 and z flasher 3?

It's supposed to be the bees knees and the future of programming 😂 but without a key position signal it's a $2000 paper weight to me.

Thanks. The link you sent seems to say it requires some sort of Porsche subscription.

I am using a thinkdiag for coding which I paid about $80 for. It doesn’t have its own screen so you need an android phone or tablet. It does everything the more expensive units do. I also have a piwis 3 but I think the thinkdiag works better for coding and the codes are in English.

Yeah, that's a newer description than when I was researching my device 😞 below is what I made my decision off of. Again it's the same flasher just rebranded and a local company to me. I also feel like the subscription is for their laptop and it's bundled software. Which I have learned is PCSS and good luck getting in that as a consumer.

What exactly is it that you are trying to do to your car?

Commission headlights that others had replaced ballast and leveling module on the right side. I've had a couple people access the system and say the same thing about needing key on. The first guy helped me get the driver's right as well, as the vdh in the original post didn't recognize the pass thru interface natively that's why I mentioned the vdk and sharing if anyone needed it. After getting that straight I had mars look and he came to the same conclusion. I was just reaching and hoping for a life line from someone experienced with pass thru.

And no luck with the thinkdiag they say none of their devices support headlight commissioning per the live chat. Is there anyone in Kansas City Missouri that might be able to help a guy out?

That makes sense. I haven’t had the need to commission any modules. I don’t think any of the x431s can commission modules. I originally bought a launch crp919x and it also did not have the ability to commission modules. There are not many people on this forum who have access to a piwis so you may want to ask your question on the following forum:

I misread your post. I apologize. No need for sarcasm. Everyone is welcome here, though this forum is about 718s, not Cayennes. We do know there are some similarities and overlaps.

Have you considered whether a X431 coding device might work instead of PIWIS?
Hi Reid:
sorry but couldn't figure out how to message you on this site... did you ever sell the Bird automotive rack? if not, I am very interested. thx bobajem@grkd.com

I'm not presently offering mine for sale, but if I quit cycling and remove the rack from the Boxster I will list it here.

🔧 Sub-Guide: Create a Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)
A VAL gives you a list of all of the codes from your car as well as the value for each code. In order to get a complete list of the codes the piwis must be in engineer mode (follow the above post to put the piwis in engineer mode).

How to Create a Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL):
  1. Launch PIWIS
  2. Follow Above Instructions to Enable Engineer[ing] Mode
  3. Click "Diagnostics 38.250"
  4. The PIWIS should determine that you have a 982 and connect to your car [If you have a PIWIS I assume you know how to do this so I have not gone into detail].
  5. Click Add Menu [F7]
  6. Click Vehicle analysis log (VAL) then click Next [F12]
  7. Click Serv Val and then click Execute [F8]
  8. The PIWIS will read all of the modules and when it finishes, click Next [F12]
  9. At the prompt for Please check chassis number and correct if necessary, click Next [F12]
  10. At the prompt for Is the Chassis number correct, click Yes [F12]
  11. From the dropdown box that says Select Value choose Interim Val from the dropdown menu and then click Next [F12]
  12. At the prompt for Vehicle Analysis Log is Complete, click Next [F12]
  13. You will see the list of VALs on your PIWIS. The filename begins FAP and has a .zip extension. The name of the file will also include your vin and the current date.
Using this VAL, I created a spreadsheet that lists all of the codes and values on my 718 (with the code names from both the PIWIS and X431) and the spreadsheet includes a comparison to the codes and values from five other 718s (four from the US (including mine), one from Spain and one from the UK/three are Boxsters (including mine), two are Caymans and one is a Spyder).

If you have access to a PIWIS and are willing to share your VAL, please send me a PM. Once I receive your VAL, I will add the codes to the spreadsheet and send you a copy of the spreadsheet. Eventually, I will post the spreadsheet on this forum.

edit: I have added a cayman from Australia so the spreadsheet now includes a comparison to the codes and values from six other 718s (four from the US (including mine), one from Spain, one from the UK and one from Australia/three are Boxsters (including mine), three are Caymans and one is a Spyder). Hopefully others with access to a piwis will contribute their Val to this project.
Ken, I successfully created a VAL file for my car (Cayman T/2022, Mexican market). Please let me know where to send you the zipped file. Thanks a lot for working on this. I am a complete newbie to Porsche and specially to PIWIS.
