As a plug and play device and +60hp and +102NM for the GTS it looks too good to be true when other tuners are having to crack the cars CPU. Interesting it says the S is getting +65hp and +108NM.

However, going by Jamie's dyno results it looks more like +40hp and +50 to 60NM as the OEM values are under-stated, but the area under the curve is definitely better and values look typical of a conservative stage 1 tune.

$1500 US is also not bad money.

spot on. The gains are still reasonable however the under the curve figures are pretty significant. I ll happily take half the RRP as I don't have a use for it any more.

I ran this for a significant amount of time including many track days under serious load of Spa, Nurburgring twice and many UK track days and it worked perfect

 

For those of you who use this system, how does it reacts to the 3 driving modes that comes with Sport Chrono?

My tune just arrived. On the paper, its really promising...65hp gain, proofs and certificates from independent 3rd parties... Even if it's discounted 20%, still has a 50hp+ increase.

Let's see if it's what it says it is.

 

Let us know how it is working for you. Smell the exhaust when you have engaged the most aggressive mode. You don't want to be running rich.

 

Interesting. Looks promising. For me to buy the tune kit, would require hearing from more than one 718 owner.

Sorry for not replying as I’ve not been on here for some time. The box genuinely has worked amazing and as I’ve been able to change settings from my phone has meant I’ve easily been able to switch the 3 power settings and turn off from the touch of a button from the DTE app which I downloaded.

The install as mentioned first was really easy and the ECU didn’t need to be removed or even touched for that matter.

I do really enjoy my track days and have been happy to use the car with this on. This year me and the car went to Spa Francorchamps twice, the Nurburgring 3 times, Lydden Hill and Donington Park and no errors or loss of performance.

The most noticeable difference is the extra mid range which is hugely noticeable.

Depends on how you look at it but in late October I sadly sold the car and got a 991.1 GT3 ?.
As a result I’m happy to sell the box if anyone is interested. I tested the box on the RR as soon as I got it and have used the car to its full potential without issue.

 

So can you tell us more about the result, ie why fit it, what’s the effect v standard and 1v2v3?

So with this system you don't need to take out the ECU?

 

Indeed no removal of ecu, it has an adaptor harness that connects into: fuell rail sensor, camshaft sensor and pressure boost sensor : here's a link to a BMW install:

Did you trial and error? Or DTE provided you with installation guides or videos?

Especially when you mentioned you had to remove the rear wheel. This doesn't sound very intuitive to me.

Really appreciate if you can post some photos that help identify the look and location of the 3 connectors.

Hi i have seen that they have released a tune for the GTS, and i`m considdering to try it out.
Have you had any problems with your tune sofar ?, and how does it feel comparing to a stock car.

 

What comes with the kit? What gets installed in the car? To the exhaust does not change? The ECU is not programmed?

interesting. i just looked over their site and they are claiming +65hp and +108tq, so based on what you got they must be talking about the top end tune. the site says there are 3 levels - sport, dynamic, efficiency - though i have no idea why they would bother with an efficiency level on a sports car. they also claim there are 7 levels of adjustment for each tune, not 3. for $1,500 is falls right in line with what everyone else seems to be charging but no need to send off the ecu and phone control is awesome.

i think i have to look a little deeper into this one. thanks for posting.

I didn't bother with the lower power (economy setting) on the dyno.
The middle setting made 379 hp

The car is otherwise standard

 

Good results! Did you install yourself? With the lack of engine access in a 718 Cayman, how long did it take to install?

 

Hiya

It took around 60 mins to install. I did have help but on reflection it genuinely is easy enough.

- You remove 2 pieces of plastic trim (1 each side which the seat belt comes out of) I used a trim tool
- Remove the aluminium cross bar and plastic trim it sits on with 4 bolts (You need a T30 torx)
- Remove the carpet which just pulls out
- Remove the engine cover. There is approx 10 bolts which are again T30 (I used a T30 screw driver for the majority and a really small ratchet for 4 awkward to get to bolts)
- Remove driver side rear wheel (LHD car)
- Fit the tuning box wiring harness. 2 plug in on the top of the engine bay and 1 down the side of the engine which is really easy with the wheel removed. Plug harness into the box which I poisitioned on top of the silicone hose which goes into the charge cooler.

Fire it up and away you go. The box came with 3 levels of tune as I mentioned above then within each tune is the facility to slightly increase each setting by up to 3 positions or reduce by up to 3 which is done off a + or - on the device.

It also has the facility to connect to there downloadable app so you can then switch between a power settings which works really well.
