Hi All,
Just joined today from England and have found this site great during the past few months👍

I’m finalising my Cayman 2.0 spec this week ( I have Nov build slot). Noticed on configuration in the summary spec and the car pictures the sports exhaust seems to have been removed.

The Porsche center advised PSE is standard on all Caymans but agreed it was strange not on configurator !?
I’m slightly concerned now as I didn’t want this excluded or any other electronic items due to possible chip shortages worldwide.

Can I ask, is anybody else in this situation or have any vital information or Porsche contacts that I could speak to who might be able to provide accurate info ( Porsche center said they would look into but think I need to research my side also)

Thanks very much and great to be onboard 👍

Hi and welcome to the forum

In answer to your Qs:

PSE is now standard on Cayman and Boxsters. Non-PSE Cayman/Boxsters have the single oval tailpipe and do not have the switch on the centre console to open/close the valve. IIRC it was added to increase the sound after the implementation of the GPF which mutes the sound a little.

If you are still configuring, I would highly recommend you add the dual zone climate control.

Hi Dan, thanks for the welcome.

Yes still configuring. Point taken about the dual zone....on test drive kept having to fiddle with non climate system but was hoping that was just down to raining. I take it the basic might be bit annoying then.

Yep I knew PSE was standard from a couple of years ago but configurator has removed it from 2.0 And T versions ( I know it’s not an option, but not showing in summary or pictures)

Thanks Rudi

Think of it this way. Without automatic climate control, you become the car's thermostat, requiring you to adjust the HVAC controls as the temperature and humidity rise and fall about your preferred set point.

I found this in the US configurator Summary for the Base 718:

Performance
SPORT button
Sport exhaust system with central oval brushed stainless steel tailpipe

The GB configurator doesn't list that section but would expect it to be the same. Maybe they don't list it due to concerns that it would raise someone's hackles if they saw "loud exhaust" listed!!😁

Hey Matt
Unfortunately not (funny though!).. it was definitely on the uk one as well, so I need to investigate before final spec this week.

I’m thinking PSE was always around £2000 option on a cayman, before they made in standard spec in the 718 around 2019 I think. So to lose that feature I’d be quite gutted, seeing as they currently offer it as a dealer fit for £2000+......unless of course Porsche reduce car by that amount, which I predict would 0% chance

I looked at the Swedish configurator and it does seem like sports exhaust is missing. It's not listed in the standard equipment and if I spec it with the sports exhaust tips (which is still an option) I don't see an exhaust button in the center console when looking at the interior shots. If this is really the case and it's not a glitch in the configurator, it really sucks.

It still there there for the S, though.

Thanks for that Dan, i thought that would be the case. So from what i gather in 2019 a petrol particulate filter was added which would have muffled the sound, so Porsche added the PSE to the car as standard, albeit with a price increase.

Question is now the unknown! If i go ahead this week with my spec i have no idea how the car will sound when it arrives in December.....will they put on the pre 2019 exhaust or have they made a new non-switchable one? Or is this possibly a semi-conductor issue and their exhaust suppliers have run out ??

I'm hoping Porsche can get me some information this week, but am a little concerned that if i hadn't spotted it i wouldn't have known of the potential issue.
If anyone here knows of information around this it would be hugely appreciated. Thanks All

Interesting that the configurator standard features no longer show sports exhaust. I ordered my standard Cayman end of April and is due to arrive at the dealership this coming Friday and when I ordered it was on the configurator. It will be interesting to see if it has the Sports exhaust I will be a bit miffed if its missing !!

I’ll hopefully be viewing mine this week when it arrives at the dealership. When I ordered mine I definitely had conversations with the salesman regarding it having the PSE fitted as standard. And took 2 for test drives with PSE also sat in one in the showroom with PSE. Will have to wait and see what it arrives with 🤔 hmm

So I’ve just looked at the standard equipment on the S and it shows the twin sports exhaust with central twin tailpipe yet it’s not listed for the base.
I’m saddened to say that there is a pretty good possibility that it’s gone 😥 and it’s the same for the T.

From the Porsche Configurator;

Base-Twin-tract exhaust system with central tailpipe in stainless steel.

T- Twin-tract exhaust system with central twin sports tailpipes in black (high gloss)

S- Twin-tract sports exhaust system with central twin tailpipe in stainless steel

And, like Mark has just said, the exhaust switch has gone from the centre console. I’ve just looked and my spec sheet and it states twin tract sports exhaust.

Thanks for that Scrounger really appreciate it.
big Downside for me that news. I’m imagining they are fitting them with the same exhaust from pre 2019 cars ( but now we have the ppf filter as well).
That’s almost a £2000 option Porsche have removed, so financially poor deal as well!
Have to put my final spec in tomorrow and to say I’m a bit peeved is an understatement🤦‍♂️

It is indeed a killer. You can opt for it as an accessory though but at £2500 I’d be looking at something from Soul Performance or you could add the twin exhaust pipe for the look at £500.

At those prices you're right that you might as well look at a sound and performance increase through something like a Soul Performance upgrade.

Hey Scrounger
They confirmed PSE gone but no one knows why….so I just move on as there is no other car even in the frame.
So my final spec is

Gt silver
Black full leather
Pdk
Carreras S wheel in satin black
Sport plus 2 way seat
Black tailpipe
Xenon pdsl lights
Dimming mirror
Gt wheel multi function
Dual Climate
Bose
Smoking pack

sports crono is still a ??? For me though. Do I really need it, is it much better than sports button ??
What’s your thoughts…..

I’m getting the docs tomorrow so might possibly delete it

really pleased with the spec. The inside and outside will be an absolute dream car for me 👍
