I was leaving a gas station, turning right onto the street while the light was red. Guy in the F150 invites me to pull out in front of him to wait for the red light. There were about 3 cars in front of me. Light turns green, I’m waiting on cars in front of me to start moving forward, then Bam from behind. The guy that had just invited me to pull out in front of him has hit me. We circle around back to the gas station to park and call police. He claims he couldn’t see my car. I said, but you were the one that asked me to pullout in front of you. No one was hurt, he has insurance. Let the hassles begin.

That sucks. Got hit from behind similarly about a year ago except by a 911! I was waiting in a long line of Porsches making their way through a left turn at a stop sign in the middle of nowhere on an organized drive. Older guy (older than me) wasn't paying attention and hit me with his 996 while I was stopped. Went low vice high in your case as you'd imagine. Almost took out his radiators. About $5300 in superficial damage and my attorney is just getting to filing a case for diminished value against my insurance company as both insurance companies low balled their DV offers. DO NOT cash any checks or accept any offers on diminished value until you consult an independent appraiser. PM me if you want the info for the independent appraiser/diminished value advisor I used.

When you try to sell your car, the buyer will pull a Carfax report and discover the accident. If there’s an identical Porsche and yours has an accident on record, which one do you think a buyer will choose? The answer is not yours. You have to lower the price to make it enticing to sell, hence car depreciation after accident. Unfortunately the other guy's Insurance will not give you extra money for depreciation. That's one reason when I purchase a sports car a make sure its a bright color and I usually stay away from white, black and gray colors it blends in to much with the road.

Again, I am waiting to pull out of a gas station onto to a road that has traffic stopped at the red light. F150 guy is on the main road approaching the red light. He sees me and stops early to allow me to exit gas station and get in the red light line in front of him. I pull out and get in front of him and we all are sitting in line for the light. 3 cars in front of me at this time. Light turns green, I am waiting on cars in front of me to start going, F150 hits me from the rear. The car in front mine of hasn’t moved yet.

No need to re-explain man we all get it except for one guy who is deciding to give you a hard time for some odd reason. Sorry this happened to you, accidents are very frustrating things to deal with.

Sounds like Florida Man was in a lifted truck this time around. Ugh.

@RadioZero, feel badly for you and really hope all goes as well as possible for you and your beautiful 718 (almost got that color myself). Many years on two wheels has also made me super paranoid about getting hit from behind by inattentive drivers, so I'm doubly sad to hear about incidents like this where you shouldn't have been at risk. Heck, the guy waved you in--sheesh.

Sorry about the accident. Know your pain. It seems like no frame damage so sounds like only cosmetic damage. And our cars are really too low to be spotted. My wife work for insurance and once a while she has to go through some kind of training on different kind of vehicle in order to get a feel on the risk of those vehicle on the road such as big truck, trailer, bus...etc. She told me that those big truck/trailer really having hard time to see low vehicle in front of them because of the long nose so don't let them behind us.

There's a few U-tube videos of people who've cut in too close to a large truck, been nudged by the truck and then pushed sideways for minutes without the driver seeming to notice. Be careful out there.🙂

got the car back from the shop, 6 week turn around. while it was in the shop, had both lower side rocker panels removed and refinished due to rock chips right behind the side inlets. speaking of side inlets, had the GT4 side scoops filled, painted and installed on the freshly painted rocker panels.

It's pretty crazy that the guy invited you to pull out in front of him and then ended up hitting you from behind. I guess he wasn't paying enough attention to what was going on. And then he says he couldn't see your car? That's a pretty weak sauce if you ask me. Anyway, I hope the whole process of dealing with the insurance company and getting your car fixed wasn't too much of a headache. Oh, and by the way, I noticed that this thread is like two years old, so I'm not sure if you still need it, but if you're ever in the market for a new truck, check out this website I found: https://www.truckexporter.co.uk/product-category/trucks-for-sale-uk/. They've got some pretty sweet deals on there.

Welcome to the forum, do you have a car or still shopping?

I’m intrigued that your first ever post was to resurrect a two year old thread. What led you there, hopefully not a similar incident?

Sorry to hear this.

The "I did not see you" thing is a bit odd.....is that what he would say when he hits a kid on a bike? A Boxster is not that small or low that you can't see it from behind the wheel of even a monster truck.

It just sounds like a legitimate accident rather than malice. Glad no one was hurt.

(Now the raised truck thing? Pain in the ass. High bumpers, high TRAILER HITCHES, etc, do damage to other's cars too often. We like to leave the trailer hitch in the receiver on our Sienna with those three ball things and back it into Corvettes on the weekends, lots of fun. ...JK).
