Porsche Touch-Up Paint (have you used it?)

I injured my car the other day. Not ready to talk about how it happened , but there's a chip that I need to sort out. Has anyone used the kit from Suncoast? Or which kit would you recommend? The spot seems very doable for an amateur.

I have. I have a big chip right above the windshield and on the bumper. I have shark blue. I used the single color kit without clearcoat. I haven't had luck with the clearcoat in the past but it's probably fine. The Porsche paint is very good. Clean the area with alcohol and remove lint. The brush loads up with a lot of paint. Brush off most of it in the can before applying or it will run. Dab it on. Once it makes contact, it will spread a bit and you can help spread it by dabbing..

Put two light coats not one big goopy one! One coat, let it dry for 30 minutes or more, then put a 2nd one. Put it on warm not cold. There are special applicators that look really good but I have never actually used them. I plan on buying some and trying them out.

If you go with the two-stage with clear , put two coats, let them dry, then put the clearcoat, just one coat in the end.

Not the best but looks ok from far away keeps the rust out. :(

My brother from another mother, my chip was so big, the brush was necessary. Remember my brother, it is not the size of your brush that matters, but how you use it! :)

For very small chips the toothpick does work ok. I always keep a cloth soaked in alcohol ready to wipe off quickly if I use my toothpick or bigger brush incorrectly.

I've used it on my metallic paint. The paint itself is fine, maybe a tad darker since it hasn't seen the same years of sunlight, but it's all application technique. You absolutely need to spend the time to sand, apply with a pin/toothpick, wait for it to dry and cure before clear coat, wait for that to cure, maybe more clear coat, wait again, sand, polish. I tried one spot like that and one spot quick and dirty and it's real obvious which was which.

Porsche branded GT Silver was no where close on my car (came with the car when I bought it but was still sealed/unopened from Suncoast originally). I've always used paintscratch.com on my other cars and they got it perfect and correct amount of flake. Couple that with Langka blob eliminator and clearcoat from paint scratch and you can get near perfect repairs. Patience, multiple coats/days is the key and lastly sanding/polishing out the clear. However I understand people may not be as fanatical as me haha.

Wondering. Did your car have ceramic on it?

It did not, bought it with no PPF and 12k miles. Touched everything up, polished it up, had front end PPFd and now it's coated. The OEM touch up paint was a little too...yellow? Metallic Silver is hard to touch up in general. My Maverick daily which is Cactus gray (Basically chalk with a hint of green) is super easy.
