Radiator Grill Store Grills

Today I fitted my radiator grills from the Radiator Grill Store based in the US (www.radiatorgrillstore.com).

I tried the Zunsport grills and didn't like the way they looked. These look more OEM and are really easy to fit. Took me all of 10 mins. Not expensive either but shipping to the UK is more expensive than the grills themselves yet the total cost is half that of the Zunsport grills shipped in the UK.

Overall, very impressed and would highly recommend.

I installed a set of these grill protectors in my Boxster S a few weeks ago. They're a bit flimsy, but they need to be constructed flimsy as you have to flex them to get them inserted through the opening while also not dragging the inserted end over the radiator.

I think they look nice, but I also think they'll fold/bend on catching a stone. I consider them disposable--expensive for that, but cheaper than a radiator replacement.

These look great. Definitely on my shopping list once I get my car back from the body shop. A semi-truck managed to have a blowout in front of me and couldn't quite get clear of the flying tire before it hit the front bumper and came through the grill and busted my AC condenser and the side intake cover clean off. Wonder if these would have helped soften the blow, hopefully none of us test that theory though 😅

for models with the Sport Design - (GTS and GT4 have this as standard) - they don't have the horizontal slats

so the Zunsports don't cover up any grille slats (with Sport Design front)- for the other models (Base / S) many prefer the RGS which install from behind w/ zip ties for more of an "OEM" look with the slats exposed

On the fronts they go through the slats and you rotate them so they fit. The side ones, you need to remove the scoops, which are just clipped in place.

Instructions are here

Bought the RGS grilles for the front of my BS. Like the grille appearance but hate the cheap tiewrap look. Like others mentioned, they seem flimsy. Depending on hand size, they can be hard to install without proper tools. I have clubs for hands so you might imagine how it went for me.

Bought Zunsport grilles for the side intakes. Easy install and very high quality. No cheap tiewraps! I can understand why some might not like the look but I didn't really mind it.

Checking on returning the RGS for Zunsport as we speak.

On my 18’ 718 CGTS, I used Zunsport in the front and RGS on the side vent. Car was on the track and both performed as intended (can tell how much rubber string did I pulled out of the side vent grills)
I think the Zunsport look cleaner in the front.
But at the end pick the ones you like most but put something for your own sakes.

Had front and rear RGS on our BS. Both side vent grills slipped down slightly, leaving ~1/4" without coverage at the top. No real worries about anything getting through; however, I didn't like the way they looked once they slipped. I prefer the RGS side vent look, yet currently leaning toward either Zunsport or Rennline for the GTS.

I have Zunsport grills on the front of my base Cayman and at the track in June my driver-side grill had two huge cicadas smashed on them. I knocked them off after a 25 minute run and saw no increase in temperature during those laps. Maybe the other side compensated, I don't know. Normally, no negative effects from the grills.

First dealer I took my car to for sale assessment immediately saw zip ties and asked what happened. Gave him the story and he said those would have to go. Interesting he picked up on them with not much inspection. I thought they were inconspicuous, but I guess not. It never bother me in ownership and I preferred the "behind-the-grill" look. Either will do the intended job.

For those that may want to make their own custom grills, this place offers some interesting grill patterns. They don't have ready made grills for the 718, but I like how they have done them for other variants. Interesting they use a neoprene trim around their grills. I may make my own for the 911. I don't think I'd like the Zunsport grills for this and not sure I like using zip ties for this application via the RSGs. Rennline makes them for the 991.1 GTS, but if I have to remove the bumper cover to install, I may as well make my own and save a few hundred. Kind of ridiculous what these companies charge for these considering what they are and what they're made of. Heck I just remembered I have a full sheet of the same anodized stuff the RGS uses, down in my wood shop. I may use that or I quite like this grill pattern. I think it's very much like the GT3 grill pattern.

I prefer the OEM grill look of the RGS to the Zunsport and in blighty they cost a third of the Zunsport grills
There is a PCGB discount code that gets you 20% off. Personally for a Base or S I prefer the RGS grilles. For the GTS or cars fitted with the sport design package, the Zunsport grilles look better.

I ordered mine for my 2018 718B and was stumped immediately when my Black Package spoiler prevented access from underneath the lip. Instead of securing from the sides, I used the support arms below the lip to attach two zip ties per grille and it’s holding perfectly. Overall, 10 minutes to install and a great value for protection!
