Soon to be mine - Boxster GTS 4.0 in Aventurine Green and Espresso

Almost got into an Aventurine BGTS 4.0 earlier this year, but ended up passing on it. 6 months later, this beauty showed up at the same dealership and it got the better of me. CPO, and the previous owner is a collector who traded this in for a 718 Spyder and a 911 S/T, and apparently all his Porsches are specced very similarly in Aventurine and Espresso.

These are pics from the test drive day and the first day I checked it out. I'll have better shots after I actually pick the car up. It's not here yet... and I'm already getting ready for mods :p

Nicely equipped! Somewhere in California? Your profile is incomplete (nudge).
Thanks! I think I got lucky as the previous owner went pretty far with the options - there's a bunch of stuff that I hadn't even known about or noticed before I saw this build sheet. I tried recreating this build in the configurator and the MSRP is north of $130K 😵

Good guess, I'm in San Francisco.

One of the nicest Boxsters I have seen, love the colour combo
Thank you! I had reservations when I first saw the espresso interior in photos, but in person it's really lovely and absolutely grows on you.

I also like that the aventurine color-shifts from time to time. Here's a video showing the aventurine in different lighting conditions:

Aventurine Green AND the Espresso interior are nowhere near as nice in photos as they are in person. I would be so all over that car if it were at my dealership.

Thanks.

It would never occur to me to pair those interior and exterior colors. But they look phenomenal together. Enjoy!
Me neither, thanks!

WOW - I bet you are glad you passed on the first one! This spec is gorgeous! The green with the brown interior looks amazing. Enjoy!!!
Thank you! Definitely, the first one was an all-black interior and had twice the mileage of this + a dent in the front bumper that the dealership wouldn't fix... same model year too, and it was only $4k less than this. But it nevertheless sold for asking price, cos this is the Bay Area 🤷‍♂️

My BGTS came home with me today!

Took some shots in a nearby parking lot as a start - the color really shifts with the amount/shade of (sun)light

Then took it to my buddy's detailing shop, where he asked me to park it under the detailing light for us to look closely at the car. Ended up taking a video, though the direct white light causes the video to be a little washed out:

All-in-all, I'm really thankful that this BGTS found me. I honestly didn't expect to like the espresso with the aventurine, but now I love it

After studying a number of builds on here, playing around with the current-day configurator, and comparing the options to what's on my build sheet, I'm still a little confused since mine's a CPO '21 and some of the options don't seem to match up exactly.

A few questions/thoughts, in case anyone who's familiar with building a 718 back in '21/22 can help enlighten me (thanks in advance!):

1) What color is the deviated stitching on my build? My build sheet says "00480", which my research points to as being "Chalk", but it sure doesn't look like chalk in person. It can look almost silver in pictures at times but in reality it looks kinda like espresso itself, just a little shinier.

2) My build sheet doesn't list electric steering column, but my car has it. Was it included in the Premium package back in '21?

3) Current-day configurator has the option "Door Panel Trim Package in Leather", which isn't shown in my build sheet, but I think my car has it. Was it part of "XVL - Extended Deviated Stitching Interior Package" back then?

4) My build sheet says "Steering Column Casing in Leather" without deviated stitching, but my column casing looks to have the same stitching as the rest of the car. I assume this was part of XVL, similar to (3)?

Here's my build sheet along with some interior shots (posting here again for easy reference):

the three light colors (in that family) available for stitching
-Chalk
-GT Silver
-Pebble Gray

odds are its probably Chalk - its the most 'white' color of the three and a more common selection I've seen for deviated stitch color in that group of shades

To answer your points

1. Chalk stitching does look like silver

2. IIRC you have 18 way seats and the electric steering column comes as part of that package

3. You have the full leather package which includes door cards and dash.

4. Deviated stitching on the steering column comes with the extended deviated stitching package if you’ve optioned leather steering column.

Love the spec of your 718! Would have gone with Espresso if it was still offered.

A close-up pic as Hal mentions would be useful.

However, there is a small chance that someone selected the contrast stitching option and then selected Espresso by mistake. I just had a play on the configurator and it will allow you to select, for example, black full leather interior, then select the extended deviating stitching option and then select black as your colour selection.

A contrast colour on Espresso should be quite visible.

For interest, a close-up from one of your images.

could you imagine the disappointment - the Espresso only leather is the most expensive Natural Leather option (Espresso / Cognac was a little lower) PLUS the Deviated stitching
-only to goof up and end up that way?

for '23 it was $4,100 for all Espresso and $3,500 (IIRC) for Espresso / Cognac interior selections

with the Deviated Stitching - it doesn't include the steering wheel or the door mid panel and grab handles

Ext. Deviated Stitching will have the wheel and all the door panel areas that have stitching

Thanks, folks. I'm currently out of town but will snap some close-up shots tomorrow/the weekend.

It's highly unlikely that the previous owner goofed up on the deviated color selection. According to my SA, he's a seasoned Porsche buyer who now has a Spyder and a 911 S/T through the same dealership, and he very carefully specs every car out.

It's a very classy, subtle look - I'm just curious what the thread color actually is haha. It'll be cool to find out!

@Scrounger Appreciate your thoughts. I realized that the pics I posted seem to point to Chalk being a possibility, but weirdly there's a fair bit less contrast to the Espresso in-person and I think @Wiscombe64 gave a good explanation as to why there might be more contrast in pics.

I've also looked at pics/vids of GT Silver stitching, and that should also contrast a fair bit against espresso. This rules out Pebble Grey as well.

Thanks to a link on thread colors that @Hal H posted some time ago, I suspect that the deviated color might be... Agate Grey! Agate looks pretty similar to Espresso, but is a tad grey-er. We might've solved it, guys? :D

That’s a great suggestion, Agate is darker and has definite brown elements despite being called grey. Whatever it is, it looks great and I assume you’re not planning to change it!!

Thank you for posting those pics. It's not often you get to see the dashboard leather option.

Am I correct in saying that your leather steering column was optioned to not have contrast stitching? If so, have you compared that area to the dash that interacts it?

Agate could well bit it. On my monitor, I was tempted to suggest it was Graphite.

Either way, fantastic interior!

What a gorgeous Boxster! I did not see any mention of Espresso being Porsche's "natural leather." I had natural leather in my '15 991.1 GTS in Black/Garnet Red. Natural leather is semi-aniline, which means it's a higher quality hide than the leather Porsche typically uses- such as black. I used different care products on the Garnet Red leather. It might help to look up semi-aniline leather on Google.

I have an allocation for a '25 Cayman GTS in Vanadium Grey Metallic with a black full leather interior (no natural leather options now), extended deviated stitching pkg, dash/defroster area deviated stitching leather, etc. I went with Lizard Green stitching, so that should be quite the obvious contrast. Probably my last Porsche. Have to sell my '16 981 Spyder to make room for it- physically and financially. Selling the Spyder will be a real bummer.

Thanks :)

The build sheet I posted above lists it as "Natural Leather Interior in Espresso". To be honest, I wasn't aware that there was such a thing until I came across my car. Not sure how much difference it makes - all I know is the interior still looks new and supple after close to 15k miles now, though there could be many factors leading to that.

Congrats on your coming CGTS! Vanadium is a beautiful color, and I look forward to seeing how the lizard green stitching goes with the rest of the car. I'd rethink selling the Spyder, but I'm the sort who needs at least 1 convertible in the garage ;)
