I am about to collect by Cayman T, and my insurance is telling me I need to have a tracker in the car which is always on. What systems are people using for this?

I also went with the Porsche subscription one, via Vodafone. I don't believe the retailer had to do anything. You just go to MyPorsche and IIRC it's under services etc. It utilises the two tracker fobs that comes with the car.
It's not the cheapest solution out there but it is hardwired into the car and less issues having another company wire something in.

also have the Porsche version.
If you are buying from Porsche Centre they should activate the in-car stuff less the tracker free for 1 year (I think), you can then purchase and activate the tracker via the Porsche site using Vodaphone as mentioned - this exactly what I ended up doing.
Would also say, my insurance did not insist on a tracker fitted - so maybe shop around - my premium with old company went up hugely this year, shopped around and ended up getting cheaper than last year, plus some extras from Hastings Direct. Depends on your age/circumstances etc but worth looking at.

So if it already has Connect - you are already half way there.
Simples process to complete - although more pennies to pay - It is packaged and I paid something like GBP 260 (ish) for the 12 months. My basic connect would have run out soon so this covers the connect - pay after your 12 months free - Tracker and the accident emergency thing.
Do make sure you download the APP btw, it is nice to have all the things linked up and accessible.

It is for the insurance companies benefit. I have gone with PVTS solution, not the cheapest, but i prefer it as it is engineered into the car.

They are my existing insurer (esure) and gave me a very competitive quote, as i was expecting my premium to go up a lot.
I was in a similar position with LV when I changed to my GTS in March. They insisted on a tracker to cover the car for theft but the policy was much cheaper than elsewhere so I went with the PVTS subscription.

Their renewal quote from September has now been increased by 50% and the discount for a tracker is now only about ÂŁ20. It's still competitive with other insurers but had I known they would do this I would have gone elsewhere and not bothered with the PVTS sub.

YMMV etc.

Tracker for me, is piece of mind for me - not the insurance company vampires 🧛‍♀️
just heard from a friend where his insurance company wants to put telematics box into his non-P car to check his milage and behaviour - told him to tell them to politely go away.
i am assuming none of us here are still in their teens, apologies if there is but honestly, go to a company who respects you not tries to belittle you.
