hey everyone! i was wondering if this would work on a 2016 Cayenne? I found conflicting information online. I have a friend who is trying to do this but can't seem to access MIB once the SD card is inserted.
I don't think these steps and files will work, because that car has PCM3.1 and this solution is for PCM4

One more set of questions after reading every page of the MIB wiki:
  • How do you update maps? Is there a separate file to download? There was nothing in the MIB pages about how to do this.
  • Do you need to uninstall MIB from GEM afterwards to prevent dealers from knowing?
  • Widescreen support isn't available on 718s because it's only available on POG24, is that right? I think all 718s have POG11?
  • Will I have to walk through the GEM menus manually to make the changes or will the latest MIB do everything for me? (Enable AA, enable Nav, enable VIM, update maps, etc.)
  • Do I need to know the listed hashes and passwords for anything? My firmware isn't listed, probably because the car is so new.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate!
This one page puts it all together for me (you might need a free Github account to see it):
GitHub - harman-f/MHI2_US_POG11_K5186_1-MU1476-AIO: Porsche MHI2 US POG11 custom AIO FW update

With the above 'All-In-One' operation you can do everything except map update, which you can do in a second easy step. No need to open GEM, though it is availabl if you are curious.

I've seen the CTEK MXS 5.0 recommended for use during this process. Wondering if either the Battery Tender Plus or the CAT CJ1000DXT would suffice for this purpose? In case the answer is no, I do have the CTEK on order.
Anything (and probably nothing) will suffice; no need to over-think it. I installed mine update yesterday with the engine running, and it all went smoothly.

FWIW, the highest version number my documentation shows is MHI2_US_POG11_K5186. I'm pretty sure that is well short of yours. But it also says it 'requires' any MHI2_US_POG11_XXXXX. If your version matches, then maybe it would work as a 'downgrade' that delivers you the broader feature set.

I was wondering if anyone could help me out please?
  • I have a UK Boxster S 2017 running software version MHI2_ER_POG11_P4172 and BOSE audio system.
  • I followed the instructions here: Prepare M.I.B SD card & install M.I.B · Mr-MIBonk/M.I.B._More-Incredible-Bash Wiki · GitHub
  • I downloaded M.I.B V3.6.0 because it is the latest stable.
  • I then followed the steps all the way through, at some point in the M.I.B installation a message appeared that said "MOST is considered as not stable". I clicked 'Cancel' and the process continued.
  • I loaded into GEM 4.12, took a backup, and then "Flash patched image | add FECs | CP/AA Coding"
  • I got an error that said "1. Wrong ifs-root-stage2 is flashed to unit. 2. Train/MU is not correct."
  • At this point I realised that the patch files I had loaded to the SD card had not extracted properly (all patches folders were empty). I downloaded the patch files from here: mib (mibsolution.one)
  • I then reloaded the patch files onto the SD card and booted into GEM again and clicked 'Flash patched image | add FECs | CP/AA Coding". I got a green success page this time.
  • At this point Android Auto worked as expected. However at some point I have lost complete audio in the car. I do not know at which point in the process.
  • I then restored the backup hoping this would fix the issue. I still have no audio but android auto no longer works as expected. I am not sure if the 'backup' restored would be the original version of software before I did anything or if there is a chance that I have restored my previous attempt to flash before i had the correct patch files on the SD card?
  • The error displayed on the PCM when adjusting volume is "Audio not available" at the top of the screen. This happens in every audio source when trying to change volume or ummute. Also the Bose settings menu has disappeared and I can't edit any of the audio settings.
I've only had the car a week and coincidentally there has been really heavy rain for the last 3 days and I noticed yesterday that the drivers side (right hand side) footwell is completely wet, due to a blocked drain, which I believe is where the BOSE amp is located. I'm in a really tricky situation where I don't know if it was the flashing that has caused me to lose audio or the amp getting wet. Also I checked the fuse for the amp and it's been replaced (with 10a instead of 40a) so I feel like the issue might not be related to this at all...

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction? I thought the latest MIB and patch files were safe to use with BOSE so I am really confused at the moment.

You have a soaked amp. Put that right first. It's probably the only problem. Good luck!
