Thanks for helping to make this free solution public!

Reading through your instructions I noticed, that you still relay mainly on the "old" USB/Ethernet and putty based solution.
Is there a reason for this?

Since more than a year all this can done by M.I.B just using SD card!
  • Patching unit for AA/CP, unlimited maps
  • Activating Navigation
  • Even additional USB/Ethernet support is added by M.I.B to unit, so no need to change the adapter itself to look like D-Link anymore

One only has to install M.I.B on unit:
  • get latest M.I.B version from mib.mibsolution.one
  • Create SD card
  • Insert SD card
  • Enter Developer Menu to install M.I.B
Image

  • Enter GEM
  • Find the following screens in GEM and run:
    • flash patched image...
    • Enable EU navigation

At the time, this method was not functioning on my test vehicle. It was unable to enter GEM through the car + tuner button. It seemed to be locked out. I'll give this a go again, I'd love for this to be easier to access to everyone.

I see, this method is 100% working.
Please try and if you run into issues, we will find the solution.
Good news - I downloaded a new copy of MIB to my flash card. Holding down CAR + MEDIA buttons, I entered Software Updated mode (SWDL), selected Software Update -> SD1 -> Standard -> Start Update

This installed MIB successfully.

I was not able to reflash to stock and attempt to apply the patch just now, but I suspect this works as it used to.

When I attempted this method last year, the SD CARD method was unable to identify the MIB shim from the SWDL. Great news. Thanks for taking the time to update us.

So I'm still trying to get the process straight. My car is a 2018. I have CarPlay, and have no need for AA. The car does not have Navigation. I can use Maps via CarPlay, but it would be convenient at times to have built-in Nav for a quick look. So my goal here would be to simply enable Navigation and upload NAR maps.

So is there any preparation I need to do before installing M.I.B, which it looks like I do by pushing CAR and MEDIA together? Is the install method clear once in the Developer Menu?

And then once M.I.B is installed, I can go into GEM to enable NAR Navigation? That step looks pretty clear. But when and how do I load the maps?

Are these the current M.I.B files I need (as of 8 May 2022)? Do I need the Patches?

And is this the map package I would use?

Assuming your car was sold for the NA market, you already have maps in your PCM for NAR. You just have to enable Nav to access them.

I don't know the process to load the latest maps, haven't looked into it yet.

Once you've patched, getting into GEM (CAR + TUNER buttons) is really simple. You can enable NAV and other options just browsing through the MIB menus.

@Arne

Download both files from mib.mibsolution.one and extract to SD card.

Check if you have GPS antenna built in:

Run the patch like I described above.

You will have NAR maps installed, however, they will be from the year your car was manufactured.
After patching you can install the new once, but you need MHI2 maps and not MST2 ;)

Your Cayman should run POG24 FW and has the wide screen display?
You can also enable this in M.I.B - full wide screen display support:

M.I.B. -> Multimedia System -> Porsche -> POG24
