@MIB-Wiki - So...
Download both files from mib.mibsolution.one and extract to SD card.
By "both files" you mean the MIB and the MIB_patches?
One only has to install M.I.B on unit:
  • get latest M.I.B version from mib.mibsolution.one
  • Create SD card
  • Insert SD card
  • Enter Developer Menu to install M.I.B
So I install MIB in the Developer Menu, and then...
  • Enter GEM
  • Find the following screens in GEM and run:
  • flash patched image...
  • Enable EU navigation
...install the MIB_patches in GEM? Can I pick and choose what patches I install? My car already has CarPlay, and I don't need AA. All I want is NAR Nav.

OK, it took running through things several times, but I was able to successfully activate the factory Nav. And as promised, NAR maps are already installed, although (also as expected) they date from 2018 when the car was built, and even those maps are much older than 2018 as my street is not even shown and it was put in around 2009.

Actually, I may not use on-board Nav much since I have wired CarPlay, but it bothered me to have a NAV button that did nothing.

Bus as long as I now have it working, I'd like update the maps. I've downloaded the latest map file, do I just place that in the /patches/ directory same as the AIO patch?

Or are map updates done outside of MIB?

How large an SD card would you need if you want to backup your PCM, and after install MIB and the patch?
Thank you
I'm using a 64GB card, way bigger than needed. The MIB install and backups on mine are only a little more than 300MB. Even with the updated maps for Nav, a 32GB should probably do it.

I've attempted to do this, but like others in the past I'm unable to even install MIB through SWDL. I've added MIB with the correct patch to an SD card formatted to FAT32. I can get to SWDL, but it doesn't recognize anything in the SD1 slot. Any help is appreciated.

@AugustaMoon - I found the instructions posted here to be very incomplete and a little misleading. On the readme.txt it makes it slightly more clear that the MIB 'install' and MIB patching is done in the Engineering Menu, not in SWDL.

Code:
M.I.B in Green Engineering Menu - GEM:
Insert the SD card into slot SD1 of your MHI2 unit.
Enter Engineering/Red Menu to start SW Update. Select UPDATE, select SD card, select "M.I.B. Launcher V1.0", START update.
Installtion of M.I.B. on your Unit will start. The unit will restart three time until update process is finished.
GEM will be activated as part of the installation.
SVM error has to be cleared via M.I.B. function in GEM after installation
Also note that while MIB patches and hooks are installed, MIB itself actually runs off the SD card. You don't 'install' it for later use, the SD card must be in SD1 for it to run.

I also found that getting into the various menus is much easier if you push and hold the relevant buttons while in the HOME screen.

If you activate the menu using the CAR and TUNER buttons with the MIB-prepared SD card in the proper slot, you should see two options: production and M.I.B. Select MIB and read the options carefully.

First perform the basic MIB install. After the PCM reboots (3 times), go back and install the correct AIO patch for your PCM model. (Find the version numbers in SWDL.) Then go back in and apply the SVM error fix.

I think at this point AA was activated. My car already had CarPlay. Activating Nav took two or three attempts, first was the basic activation, and then there was a second step listed. I may have had to go back and apply the SVM fix again before it finally worked when I pressed the NAV button.

Also note that my car already had the factory GPS antenna installed because it was ordered with Porsche Connect (w/o Nav). Obviously Nav won't work without an antenna.

@MIB-Wiki - I noted the following in the readme.txt:

Code:
** 6 - Developer Menu activation
Developer Menu will be enabled - no need for VCP/VCDS or OBD11 ;)
Unit will automatically restart to save changes permanently
I'm interested in this, but did not see any way to activate anything for coding in the Dev Menu. Can you give me any direction?

One final thought on the Nav activation - you can not display the Nav route in the right gauge pod after activation. Apparently this is a hardware limitation. The gauge display is possible ONLY on factory-installed Nav, not even the factory upgrade package (from Suncoast for example) can display in the gauge, just in the PCM.

Now that is interesting, and too bad it as it is a nice feature.
