I am downloaded the 2 MIB files and unzip it but how do I know which patch file that I need to put in the SD card?

And after I put the SD card in the car slot 1, how to start the patch on the unit?

@Arne Thanks for the help. I was able to get MIB installed.

I'm still unable to get NAV or AA working. I've installed the patch and activated everything, but I can't reboot the radio. It keeps saying "other process initializing, can't reboot" or something along those lines.

I do have Connect so the GPS antenna and CarPlay have all worked in the past.

I don't recall ever seeing that error. Obviously sub-optimal. While you could force a reboot (hold down the volume/power knob for 10 seconds or so, should power off when you release), I'd be more than a little reluctant to do so if it is truly trying to do something.

With the Ignition on, push and hold the CAR and MEDIA buttons for 5 seconds. You may have to try more than once to get it to catch. This will open the Developer Menu where one of the options will be Version information. Select that and compare to the patch list.

To get out of the Developer Menu reboot the PCM by holding the power/volume knob down for 10 seconds or so, it will reboot when you release the button.

Access the Engineering Menu in much the same manner as the Developer Menu. While at the HOME screen, press and hold the CAR and TUNER buttons. You should get a green menu (GEM) that offers production and m.i.b choices. Select m.i.b. and proceed.

Last note - I strongly suggest reading through the readme.txt as even though I found it not completely accurate (it seems to assume you are more familiar with this process than most of us are), there are several hints and tips that you should make note of.

Great discussion and nice to see, that you could figure most things out.
I agree, documentation could be even better. Feel free to extend/change it, I'm happy to forward to the right places.

Entering special menus always has to be done from HOME, right.

Here the latest AA button fix for public testing:

I tried that... it didn't work!!
What I had to do was Tenet to it, run the MIB from the SD card and tell it to reboot.
Fortunately that worked a treat. I renamed the folder to "P" from "K" and flashed the unit.
Android Auto now works!! albeit with a dodgy looking text/icon...
Once my heartbeat has returned to a more normal level, I'll have a go at the AA button fix above!

So does this 'only' fix the icon? I already have AA working on my PCM done some time ago remotely. This will fix the graphic and provide touch response to go into AA correct?

Additionally @edub mentioned that there was some bugs in this patch and suggested waiting? (2) Android Auto / Nav etc... Do-It-Yourself-Thread | Page 5 | Porsche 718 Forum

Finally does this patch require access to the developer menu or the GEM to be applied?

Looks great, was this for POG11? Is the colour off a bit? Can you confirm that it works as a touch button to enter the app?

And can you layout the steps to install it? Many thinks!
Yes it was for POG11... Yes the colour is a bit off but I couldn't decide if it was showing a "selected" colour. The colour doesn't bother me, the text on top of text did :)
Yes it works as a push button to enter the app just the same as the messed up button / text did before.

To Install it...
  1. I copied the contents of the .7z file onto the SD card, overwriting all files on there (I copied the backup folder to a new folder called backup-backup because I am paranoid)
  2. I then put the SD card into the car.
  3. Booted into GEM by pressing CAR+TUNER
  4. Selected MIB
  5. Navigated through MIB to the "multimedia_system" - "Porsche" - "POG11"
  6. Selected "Enable AA Button" and pressed it
  7. The system installed it and rebooted itself.
That was it!

Should also work on previously patched unit. Of course, I do not know what "unusual" things might have been done to the unit at that point of time. Some experts close down the unit to guarante further income ;)

You have to install M.I.B from SD card and enter GEM.

Thanks for the additional details, yes at this time I do not have MIB installed so I cannot get to the GEM. I will have to start at the beginning of the thread so determine/confirm what would need to be done to the PCM to get it to the point where can be patched.

Cheers, I would seem to have some work to do before I can even attempt to do this patch... 😉
