With the Ignition on, push and hold the CAR and MEDIA buttons for 5 seconds. You may have to try more than once to get it to catch. This will open the Developer Menu where one of the options will be Version information. Select that and compare to the patch list.

To get out of the Developer Menu reboot the PCM by holding the power/volume knob down for 10 seconds or so, it will reboot when you release the button.

Access the Engineering Menu in much the same manner as the Developer Menu. While at the HOME screen, press and hold the CAR and TUNER buttons. You should get a green menu (GEM) that offers production and m.i.b choices. Select m.i.b. and proceed.

Last note - I strongly suggest reading through the readme.txt as even though I found it not completely accurate (it seems to assume you are more familiar with this process than most of us are), there are several hints and tips that you should make note of.
Thanks. I able to load the MIB to my into and able to access the GEM but it just do nothing and nothing can select, am I miss anything? or should be using some other way to navigate this menu instead based on the touch screen?

First perform the basic MIB install. After the PCM reboots (3 times), go back and install the correct AIO patch for your PCM model. (Find the version numbers in SWDL.) Then go back in and apply the SVM error fix.

I think at this point AA was activated. My car already had CarPlay. Activating Nav took two or three attempts, first was the basic activation, and then there was a second step listed. I may have had to go back and apply the SVM fix again before it finally worked when I pressed the NAV button.

Also note that my car already had the factory GPS antenna installed because it was ordered with Porsche Connect (w/o Nav). Obviously Nav won't work without an antenna.
So after the MIB install, is it to apply the patch from the Red menu again through the Update selection?

On this screen you should now also see a "user definded" option:

and here you should be able to select "ALL"
The "User Defined" option seems to be working. The update appears to be about 50% done as I type this, and appears to be proceeding normally. So far, so good...

Success! The update took about 23 minutes, completed normally, and after rebooting itself the Maps and Nav work as expected. The the new map even has my little private street shown, so it doesn't look like I'm off-roading the last few hundred feet to my home!

Next I'll try to use these same maps to update my 2016 Audi A3...

Cool! Arne, curious, any reason why you didn't want to just do it from the SD card from the user menus?

Does the 2016 Audi use the same maps? We have a 2016 Macan but that is PCM 3.1 I didn't think that these maps were compatible?

That's how was trying, and how I did do it in the end. Failed at first, then after the tweak in MIB I tried again. Card in SD2, enter the SWDL and Update All.

No, apparently not. It says the update data is not valid. Audi used to have map updates posted on their website, but that went away a few years ago. @MIB-Wiki - can you tell me if any of the map packages you have available are correct for this system?

The Audi screen looks so different than the Porsche, IIRC they normally did the PCM 3.1 updates via DVD's
I've updated the Audi once before via SD card. The car is a 2016, the installed maps say 2018/2019. So I'm sure the SD card will work if I can find the correct map files. I wish Audi was still making them downloadable.

The maps I finally got installed in my Cayman claim to be from 2022. Whatever they are, they are definitely newer and more complete than the 2018 maps that shipped with the car.

So now I'm all set in the Porsche. I have better on-board maps for a quick check of something without taking my phone out of my pocket, and wired CarPlay for when I need real Navigation assistance. All at no cost. Best of all (since I'm somewhat OCD), I no longer have 2 buttons on my PCM that annoy me because they do nothing (NAV and MAP), both now work!

My bad... I didn't read the instruction on the first page that state it clearly how to navigate through the GEM with the radio knob button. I have successfully have Nav & AA enabled and working like a champ! Thanks a lot for such a great info. Now I don't have to hook up an old iphone in order to have navi and lost bluetooth.

BTW, so is that also work for Audi? I have a 2013 Audi S5 which never have the navi map update and also don't have carplay or AA (not even an option back in time). So is there any luck to have AA enable on an old Audi? or will that tricks able to update the navi map?

Great discussion and nice to see, that you could figure most things out.
I agree, documentation could be even better. Feel free to extend/change it, I'm happy to forward to the right places.

Entering special menus always has to be done from HOME, right.

Here the latest AA button fix for public testing:

So am I just download and unzip that file then put it under the patch folder of the SD card with the MIB? so basically how to apply this AA button fix? thanks in advance

Probably not. The MMI on my 2016 A3 is similar to the Cayman, but not interchangeable. Map updates for older Audis are now hard to find unless you buy them from Audi ($$$).

One interesting thing I will note, the last time I updated the maps there was a selection process of which maps in NAR did you want, IIRC I had to choose them, this time during the update process as soon as I pointed the PCM to the SD card it recognized the DB on it and took over, never asked another question just downloaded all of it? (I think)

@MIB-Wiki The version number is correct but sure how to verify that all of NAR is actually there?
