You are correct on the interior color of Cognac and Espresso as I have that myself. Something doesn’t fit as the window sticker says it is a black leather interior. Clearly it is not. Could the order or build have been messed up or they just messed up the sticker?

No. That’s the way CXX options (Sonderwünsche) work. The car comes off the line with whatever are the defaults for what has been requested. The defaults are removed and the custom pieces installed. The Monroney sticker shows the defaults and the sum total of the CXX options. Shortly after delivery a Certificate of Customization is mailed to the owner and that lists the specifics.

If that’s really how Porsche works it’s unbelievably antiquated. Everything on a Rolls Royce is bespoke but still arrives just in time to the fitment station on the main, moving production line. Double handling, let alone double assembly, should always be eliminated for cost, productivity and, especially, quality.

The description of the Monroney sticker and Customization Certificate is accurate and based upon mark one eyeball evidence.

The description of the CXX process is as described to me by several different people employed by Porsche/Porsche affiliates.

I agree that the latter description describes a dumb-@$$ed process. And I have no direct evidence that it is an accurate description... just multiple people telling me the same thing.

I'm in the DC area where we have a total of 7-8 dealerships within 30 miles. Have been talking to the SM of the dealership where I ordered and purchased my 2022 CGTS in July 2021 about a Spyder RS allocation. He may be saying this to make me feel good, but has claimed that the 5% discount I got 3 years ago was the last time they discounted an allocation on any 718, period. The only other "nominal" discounts of $1-$2k in the past three years were on a couple of base and S models that ended up in dealer inventory due to a cancellation or extra allocation.
My experience in the DC area in late November was Chantilly offering a CGTS allocation with 10k ADM via add on packages and Arlington offering the car at MSRP with no add ons, I went with Arlington.

Your experience is consistent with other anecdotal evidence I've heard. I think Arlington - under new ownership as of several years ago (pre-Covid) - is being a more price aggressive to make up for their bad reputation under the previous ownership. Chantilly, I believe, is under same ownership as Tysons and both have a bit of a reputation for price gouging, especially relative to service. I bought my GTS from Bethesda, but my service dealership is Silver Spring, where I bought my previous Cayman S. Past quotes I got for service from all of the Virginia dealers were 30-50%+ higher than Silver Spring, and I've found the quality of service at Silver Spring is better than any others in the DC area. Just my experience.

You are correct, Chantily & Tysons fall under the Penske dealership network and even share allocations from Porsche from my understanding. Arlington belongs to another dealership network local to the area. Penske is quite large in comparison with dealers all around the NE. My sales & service experience at Arlington has been positive; I haven’t been to Silver Spring yet but the price difference in at least one quoted service cost between Tysons and Arlington was substantial.
