Not to mention MT's sales tax savings.
Every few years the legislature talks about instituting one so that we could capture money from all you wealthy tourists. Fortunately, the counter-argument of using resort taxes so the rest of us don't get nailed has held things stable.

I never thought of using the LLC shield to avoid the sales tax, but yeah, interesting idea. I won't tell my State Senator unless you want me too.......

After a year I finally came up with one. Even found a plate that captures my Lava paint.

Enthusiasts will likely get "6SPeeD". Some will get the intended ManualTransmission". Serendipitously, the MT also stands for Montana which makes it even more fun. Those that don't get "6SPeeD" will scratch their heads wondering what it is about our fair state that I'm getting at (6 SpuDs MonTana ?????? What is this guy, a potato grower with an extremely small farm?).

I'm fortunate to have thought of "ManualTransmission". DMV requires we send a 2nd choice, and all the alternative variations of 6 speed are already taken (6speed, 6spd, 6 spd, etc).......

The model designation plus the plate now carries a perfectly centered full spec. of my car:

718 Cayman GTS
6 Speed Manual Transmission

Bonus of posting in this thread? I'm going out right now to straighten out the plate!!!!!

Did the personalized plate thing a long time ago but haven't had much interest in it lately. If I was going to personalized the plate I might go with something like "BOXTOP" or something else witty.

However, California's DMV took a poll a few years back asking which vintage look plate people wanted to bring back. The choices were:

The black over yellow plates from 1956-1962

The yellow over black plate from 1963-1969

The yellow over blue plate from 1970-1981

The blue over white plate from 1982-1987

Starting in 1982 our standard plate has been blue over white
although the design has changed a few times. This
is our current plate

The current plates are pretty boring and other than the black over yellow or the yellow over black none of the plates were voted on. In order to be brought back the plate had to get a minimum number of votes a the only plate to get enough likes was the yellow over black design. So keeping that in mind the DMV designed a new yellow over black plate plate with the current font and reflective paints to meet current standards. The plate has been extremely popular with people putting them on a lot of their cars. The DMV allowed a random number sequence with just six letters and characters or you could have a personalized plate with up to seven characters/numbers. I went the path of the random sequentially numbered plate for the Macan and the new Box. Here is what the new plate looks like:

California went one step further and has now authorized a digital license plate that you can purchase through a third-party vendor but it lacks any imagination and I find it to be bulky. They don't have a digital front plate so you have to use your standard plate for the front of the car if you choose to put a plate on the car. Why it does allow is for you to pay your registration online and the digital plate is updated with your new digital tag. The DMV is also allowing a front "wrap" type plate but I haven't looked at those yet.

I have personalized plates on everything it seems (my wife says I have problems :p). Guess you can tell I am a Hokie, plus I have 2 kids there now!

On my 718 (seemed to really fit + a 20 year gap from when i last had it!):

And some old ones in order:
MINI Cooper (I also have LTS MTR on the Cooper S convertible my son drives)
M4 Convertible
911 C4 widebody Midnight Blue (wish I still had that car!)
Dodge Magnum SRT8
Tricked out 2013 Jeep Wrangler (can anyone guess what this one says - 2 meanings that would make sense for any jeepers out there?)

And finally, my BMW i3

And here I was proud of the one (singular) plate I came up with, and that took me a whole year......

I'm not a Jeepy, but presuming that "Jack" somehow relates to "Jeep", and your tricked out Wrangler was particularly graceful as it leapt from rock-to-rock, I just got one of the meanings of the second to last plate.

I bow to your creativity.

Obviously the nursery rhyme:
Jack be nimble, Jack be quick,
Jack jump over a candlestick

Ah, lemme guess, the i3 is electric with a 33kw-hour battery...is that big for an EV?
Perfect! And the double was that the 2013 Jeep was a "JK" Series, meaning JK, be nimble and don't roll over :ROFLMAO: - lord knows I had it in some precarious spots

As far as 33 KWH, pretty small battery compared to today's electrics, but in a 3,000 lb car, it gets me about 120 miles of range on avg. All you ever need in a day to day city car, and it has a backup gas powered range extender (generator) that'll keep me going forever if I need it.
