If your PCM was set to have "Life Time Maps updates" then you should be able to proceed with just a map update. Extract the NAV DB onto a freshly formatted SD card (FAT32), insert that into SD1 on the PCM, and use the update process on the PCM to see if it recognizes the files and gives you the option to update.
As I previously mentioned, I already have navigation and apple car play. I finally tried to update my maps and I receive an error that says "The medium contains no valid update data". Is this the error I would receive if I don't have lifetime maps or did I not set up the SD card correctly?

Since I already have nav and apple car play, what other benefit is there to installing the mib software other than lifetime maps? Is saw a reference to VIM (which I believe means that videos will play on my screen while driving)? Is that correct? Are there any other benefits?

You probably copied and pasted the entire folder of downloaded files to the SD card. That won't work. You have to copy all the folders and files FROM that main d/l folder and paste to the SD. Or extract directly to the SD. Make sure the metainfo file was included.
But if you did it correctly, you could have a bad SD card.
I did extract the rar file directly to the sd card. The metainfo file is there as well as the MIB1 and MIB2 subdirectories (see attached). I also ran a chkdsk on the sd card and no errors were found.

Are you saying that the PCM should have found the data even if I don't have lifetime maps?

At the top level of the SD card, you should see some metadata.txt files. if you dont, then its not extracted properly. It should look like this:

Look at the image in my post above. I have the metainfo2 file as well as the mib1 and mib2 subdirectories. Also chkdsk confirms that the format of the sd card is fat32. However, I will erase the sd card and try extracting the files again.

I am trying to figure out why some people with earlier 718s are able to skip tracks using the diamond button in Car Play and others are not. I have corresponded with a couple people on this forum who have applied the AIO patch and they are able to skip tracks using the diamond button in Car Play. One has a 2017 718 and the other a 2018 718. Neither of them know whether they were able to skip tracks using the diamond button in Car Play prior to applying the patch.

I would like to get input from more owners whether the AIO patch has any effect on this issue. If you have applied the AIO patch, please let me know whether or not you are able to skip tracks using the diamond button in Car Play and if you know whether you were able to skip tracks using the diamond button in Car Play prior to applying the patch. Also, let me know what year 718 you have? If you have any other thoughts on this issue I would appreciate that as well.

Wading in here. I hope all the super helpful people are still around to answer the inevitable questions I will have...

I read through every post in the thread that I could access. (The nested reply view sometimes showed responses available, but when I click to show replies would end up loading nothing.)

I believe I know the basics. Read the MIB post here first, download files, unzip to an SD card formatted to FAT32, charge car battery and put on CTEK charger throughout, load in SD card slot on driver's side, etc.

I have a 2024 Boxster GTS that I picked up earlier this month. I'm in the US. I believe my car came with wired CarPlay standard, and so I should have a USB port in the armrest and the GPS antenna. I did not get the Smartphone compartment, Navigation, Voice Control, or Porsche Connect options. I do not have a CD slot.

Software version: MHI2_US_POG11_P5251 1503
Hardware version: 060
Gracenote version: Region=NORTH_AMERICA-Version=13
Media driver version: DEV_MMX2_PAG_NAR_G11_095PROD-1
Phone driver version: 44.35.978

I am hoping to use this to enable Android Auto with the nicer icon, Navigation, Voice Control, turn on wifi so that I can use the Track app, enable videos to show on my head unit (is that VIM?), and update maps if they need updating.

Here are my questions:
  • Is my software too new to do AIO? I'd have to do the manual MIB instead?
  • Do all 718s have PCM4, not PCM5?
  • I don't have a CD player and am not sure how to access the SD card slot. Do I press or lift up on the area below where the CD is on other cars?
  • I would select NAR (assuming that means North America Region) for NAV?
  • Will real time traffic updates work?
  • Do I only need a 32 GB SD card or do I need a 64 GB for US maps?
  • I've seen people say to do the AA/Nav/etc. MIB update first, and then later go back in to do the map update. Do I use the same SD card to do both or do I need a second one? If just one is needed, then do reformat the card before reusing it for the maps update?

(Pardon if my jargon is off. This is new to me.) Many thanks in advance.
I have read about MIB but have not done it myself since I have carplay and connect so do not see any real benefit to running it. The only definite benefit would be VIM but I do see myself watching videos much while driving. The other possible benefit is the ability to use my diamond button set to next track with car play. Some early 718s have this ability some don't. I have no idea if this is related to firmware or something else. A couple people with earlier 718s have responded to me that they can skip tracks while using carplay. Neither of them knew if they had this ability before running MIB. Let me know if you have run across any other benefits.

Here are my answers to your questions:
  • Is my software too new to do AIO? I'd have to do the manual MIB instead? Since your car has the same system I do not know why you couldn't use AIO. Is there something you saw that makes you question this?
  • Do all 718s have PCM4, not PCM5? All 718s have PCM4. It is doubtful that the PCM will be updated until the new models come out.
  • I don't have a CD player and am not sure how to access the SD card slot. Do I press or lift up on the area below where the CD is on other cars? My SD card slots are right above the tuner, media, nav buttons on the PCM. It says Porsche. You flip that down to expose the SD Card slots.
  • I would select NAR (assuming that means North America Region) for NAV? Yes. NAR.
  • Will real time traffic updates work? Not sure above this.
That is what I have read as well. I believe you can use the same SD card. You just may be to reformat or erase the SD card because it is doubtful there is enough room for both MIB and the maps.

One more set of questions after reading every page of the MIB wiki:
  • How do you update maps? Is there a separate file to download? There was nothing in the MIB pages about how to do this.
  • Do you need to uninstall MIB from GEM afterwards to prevent dealers from knowing?
  • Widescreen support isn't available on 718s because it's only available on POG24, is that right? I think all 718s have POG11?
  • Will I have to walk through the GEM menus manually to make the changes or will the latest MIB do everything for me? (Enable AA, enable Nav, enable VIM, update maps, etc.)
  • Do I need to know the listed hashes and passwords for anything? My firmware isn't listed, probably because the car is so new.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate!
For your first question, download the file from the MIB site (I believe you want the NAR map from the MIB site (see attached)) and to update the maps, go to Nav->Opt->Set Nav-> Update map. Regarding your second question, I don't know if uninstalling will change anything. I know running MIB changes your firmware. I would think that would tell the dealer so I don't know if uninstalling MIB would change anything. Maybe others have more insight on this. I believe you are correct on your third question. I haven't run MIB so I have no idea on your last two questions.

I've just bought a 718 in the UK and have MHI2_ER_POG11_P5104_MU1352 with Bose and CarPlay activated, but would like to upgrade maps and enable Android Auto.

There have been a couple of older posts on here about the flashing process disabling all sound on units with Bose and can only find one related reference on the MIB github page for MHI2_US_POG11_K5186_1-MU1476-AIO, which I assume only applies to that specific patch.

Does anyone have experience with this or a conclusive answer on whether it's possible?
According to the readme file that comes with MIB AIO, the bose update is disabled.

718socal posted the map update above. Here is the link 11.64 GB file on MEGA

Thanks, I have latest the UK / EU maps already (I think) but the MIB 3.6.0 readme doesn't mention Bose and neither does the info.txt that comes with the MHI2_ER_POG11_P5104_MU1352_PATCH so that makes me a bit nervous. I've probably not fully understood the process.

Time for me to re-read all the docs and see if I can make sense of it.
this is what I was looking at which is the aio version cratervanawesome was referring to. You may have to modify one of the files to tell it to use uk/eu nav. I believe the instructions are included or on the website.

I followed the instructions in the Wiki to complete installation for MHI2_US_POG11_K5186_1_MU1476_PATCH. Everything went smoothly, however, I see no CarPlay/Nav icons. If I plug in my phone via glovebox USB, the phone is not being recognized.
Others have had that issue and the solution is usually a different iphone cable. You may have to try multiple cables until you find one that works. Official Apple cables seem to work best.

I have the new MHI2_US_POG11_P5251 version and am having no luck, as I know a few others noted. Anyone ever find a work-around? Looks like there is still no MIB update, as far as I can see.
Unless the program is updated to work with newer firmwares, it will not work. Others have used @simaservis1108 to add the functions that MIB adds to older firmwares.

Good morning, I am reviving this thread. Just got a Macan and updating the PCM4 to activate AA. When trying to activating AA in the green menu I get this error: Missing files/folders - no patch can be applied

I am not able to find a fix. Can anyone help me fix this? thank you in advancve.
Are you using the non AIO version of MIB? If you are not using the AIO version, my understanding is that you need to download the patches from the website (see first link below) and put the correct one in the patches subdirectory. However, you can just copy all of them into the patches subdirectory.

The filename of the AIO version is MHI2_US_POG11_K5186_1_AIO_MU1476_20230318.7z. If you are using the AIO version of MIB then you shouldn't need the patches. Also, the AIO version is much easier to use since it starts automatically. Also, I don't know if your macan has a bose but on the 718s with bose, the AIO version by default skips the bose update which if the bose update is run would require a trip to the dealer to get the sound working again.

I am having issues updating the maps to the latest P376 file(s). I formatted a new 32GB SD card to Fat32, downloaded the P376 zip and extracted the folder, and placed the 4 items in the SD card. When I go to do a software update it just says "Download in progress: 0%" I have let it run for 20 minutes and it is still at 0%. Am I doing something wrong?

The 4 items on the SD card are the Mib1 folder, Mib2 folder, md5 file and the metainfo2 file.
I updated my maps a while back since I never use navigation but I checked the update files I have and those four items are the items that are in the root directory. As I am sure you know, there are a bunch of files in the MIB1 and MIB2 folders. My only other suggestions are if you used quick format when formatting the SD card, try reformatting the SD card and uncheck quick format and see if that fixes the issue. Also, try a different SD card. If you are on an older version of the maps you can try updating to a newer version that you have but not the most recent version and see if you are able to do that. Maybe someone else has some other ideas.

Thanks, Ken, I will try your recommendation of updating the maps to an older but newer than the version of the maps (2017/2018) that were installed with the AIO, and see if that works.
I think that makes sense. Note that AIO does not update the maps but my understanding is that it allows permits lifetime updates of maps. You have to manually update the maps which I believe is what you were trying to do when it was stuck at 0%.
