It may be time for a bit of a recap of the current situation on this topic.

This thread deals primarily with two downloadable packages and the application thereof, AiO and Maps.

AiO (All in One) is a self-executing update package for PCM4.0 that has a number of functions. The most requested functions are activation of wired AndroidAuto, wired CarPlay, and factory Navigation. Secondary functions are things such as setting a flag to allow lifetime map updates, and onboard WiFi for Track apps. The complete AiO download is about 1.8GB in size. Please note - AiO is not compatible with the later PCM version (I will call it PCM4.1) that does not have an optical disc drive. PCM4.1 was phased in sometime around early 2024 production. If your PCM does not have a CD/DVD slot, this package will not work, and there is no newer package available at this time. The most recent AiO file is MHI2_US_POG11_K5186_1-MU1476-AIO.7z dated March of 2023.

Maps file is region-specific, and is used to update the NAV maps to a later version. The latest North American files that we have access to is for 2024-25. This is especially needed if you enable NAV via AiO on an older car, as the maps included in your PCM will date from sometime prior to the build date of your car. (The maps in my 2018 were from 2015-16.) You can also update factory activated maps after using AiO to set the lifetime update flag. The Maps packages are rather large—the 2024-25 North American maps are 12.5GB.

The current issue is that the person or group who originally built, obtained and/or maintained these packages has gone radio silent, and the primary web site for downloads is down (and looks like it may not return). Both AiO and Maps are region-specific (AiO had different versions for US, EU and others, while the maps are obviously not world-wide).

There are a few of us here who have saved these packages (most, or maybe only, for North America). But having the few of us with files constantly uploading them to people's personal cloud drives is not a sustainable model. I was able to find one possible mirror for AiO, but while it appears to be the same release by date as the one from the old web repository, it is definitely smaller in size and not as complete as the one that everyone has used in the past.

Short term - some of us who have the files needed are willing to share, but we aren't going to be able to upload them to individuals willy-nilly forever. And the Maps file is too large for us to upload to most personal cloud storage.

Long term - while I doubt we can expect any further development on this (especially for the later PCM4.1), it would be best if we could find a place to mirror these files, both the North American which are the most common, but also the other regions if we can identify people who have copies to share. So if anyone has any ideas on where we could store maybe 50-100 GB of files for free downloading, please let us know.
I would really appreciate the AIO package when you have a chance.

My car has factory Car Play so my car uses the usb port in the center console. I have looked for but have not found a way to change the length of time that the center console usb or the cigarette lighter plugs stay active. However, I have found that if I turn off bluetooth on my phone for 7 minutes and then turn it back on after 7 minutes, my carlinkit will no longer connect to my phone. If I don't turn off bluetooth and my phone continues to connect to my carlinkit, my phone will continue to connect to my carlinkit for 30 minutes or longer after I have left the car. Make sure that you do not open the car door because that will keep the port active. Try this and see if the glove box usb works the same way as the center console usb.
I have found that turning off Bluetooth when I exit the car allows the glove box USB to turn off after X time. Now I just have to figure out what X is! I'll post when I find out what that is, or if I discover any other interesting details.

Thank you again for all the assistance.

@Ken G was awesome helping me get things going. @NGRichter I have a copy of the update files from Ken on my Google Drive I can send you. I'm too new to PM though. You have an email address I can send the link to? I struggled to get it working on mine due to the USB stick I was using, so having a good full-size SDCard I think is important.

A little more info.

Activated AndroidAuto and CarPlay work totally as expected, as long as you are OK with wired connection. If you want wireless, you will still need to activate it via AiO, but will also need a wireless dongle of your choice. There are many threads about which dongles work acceptably, please look to those threads for that info, don't ask here.

Activated NAV has 2 caveats. One is that a GPS antenna is required. Some cars have them, others do not. If your car came with Porsche Connect or CarPlay from the factory, it is more likely than not that you will have an antenna. Aftermarket antennas are available, but require the PCM to be at least partially removed so that it can be connected.

The other caveat is that NAV activated after the fact can not display info (turn by turn, etc.) in the right cluster pod. On later cars (2019-23 or so?) you can add a video cable to connect the PCM to the cluster, and then with some additional coding (via PIWIS, Launch or ThinkDiag) you can enable the cluster display.

Some 2017-18 cars may be able to add the cable and code also, but experience has shown that most of these cars also lack the video-in port on the back of the cluster. In which case no cable can be connected.

Once past these 2 items, the activated NAV works just like factory.
Just removed the cluster to connect it it the PCM, but there is no connection port, just an area, where it should be soldered. The car is S with Carplay from the factory, with no nav, but gps antenna was installed. Manufactured May 2020 for Korean market.

Greetings all!

New member here and new Porsche owner! I just picked up a new (to me) 2021 Cayman GTS 4.0 yesterday and the first thing I wanted to do was get Android Auto working.

I followed the steps in the links above.

And had Android auto working immediately after doing that.

This morning, it didn't seem to want to work. On my phone, it said "Android Auto is connecting" but then never achieves a connection.

That said, I did remove the SD card after I was finished. Does the SD card need to stay in for all of this to work? If not, any other tips?

Thanks!

Justin

First thing I would try is hold the volume button for twenty seconds and then release. You will see the Porsche crest as the pcm restarts. This fixes many issues. I keep my sd card in the slot but I am pretty sure you only need it if you want to go into the green engineering menu (gen).

Thank you for the tip! I'll give that a shot. I'll also do a proper intro with car photo later as well. :)

Definitely no need to leave the card in the slot.

Consider the quality of your USB cable.

Reboot phone and PCM.

Tried a brand new Anker cable and that didn't do it. I've also tried the following;

  • Resetting the car to factory.
  • Restarting phone.
  • Clearing android auto cache.
  • Restarting the PCM.
  • Tried both USB ports.

After I reset the car to factory and repaired my phone, now every time my phone connects to the car's bluetooth is gives me a notification that says "android auto is available. Plug in a cord to your car."

So, it's in there, but when I plug in the cable, the phone still says "android auto is connecting...," and never achieves a connection.

I'm heading out of town for the weekend so I'll pick up troubleshooting next week.

I didn't do the AIO method listed earlier in this thread, but I found the files from github and followed the directions there. Everything seemed to work correctly but maybe there's a problem with my install.

All it took was a different cable, despite the new one being "high speed" and all that jazz. As noted, this seems to be picky with the cable.

(I did manage to do the AIO upgrade just to be safe, but that didn't resolve my issue, cable did.)

I had the same issue trying to activate Carplay. The PCM kept telling me to "connect a USB to use Carplay." I tried several cable, including the Anker, and no dice. Finally, I went through the installation a second time and it worked.
